Curbelo with 11 points, 1 assist and 7 turnovers in a loss tonight.😳

Sounds like another suspension coming. Most schizophrenic player ever to play. He’s likely to have 7 assists and 1 TO next game. No consistency whatsoever.

Just dropped in to say one of the kids I flew with recently is from Memphis and a big basketball fan.

Huge Tigers supporter and I'd flown with him way back in the offseason and he was asking me about Dainja. I told him he would probably end up one of their favorite players and I hoped that he thrived there.

Fast forward to last week and he laughed and said "dude I f#cking love Dainja! My favorite player!"

 :illinois:

Love the info and the format Tacoma, thank you.

PITA to add coaches? Gentry @ Gonzaga, Frazier @ West Virginia, Anderson @ TBD, others?
A few others: Judson @ ISU, Jerrance @ Southern Illinois, Paris Parham @ DePaul, Self and Roberts @ Kansas, Groce @ Akron.
Looks like Mike Shepherd is still DOBO at Oklahoma.
Jerrance Howard is no longer at SIU, he's at Arizona State.
Also:
Roger Powell @ Valparaiso
Billy Gillispie @ Tarleton State
Jamall Walker @ Ohio State

Should Bro Hawk stayed an Illini instead of chasing NIL $$$$? I think Bro Hawk would share court minutes Ben H and bro Riley and or Johnson jr.

For $2M? When I doubt we would have offered anything near that? No. I'd be the floor sweat-wiper for 10% of that.

Enjoy one more year of the college life, bank the money and then off to whatever foreign country wants him.

That's the thing. Coleman has commented that he missed out on the money train his fourth year while staying loyal to Illinois and he wasn't going to do that again. He wanted to test his market value and the market landed at $2 million -- much more than Illinois was willing to pay for his services. In the end, it's worked out well for him, business-wise. He got his degree from Illinois and got $2 mill after graduation. The on-court sucess hasn't been there, but he can wipe his tears away with crisp, fresh Ben Franklins.

I agree. He made the right call for him.

I would be curious though, would this team be better with CoHawk instead of Ben?

Possibly, but it would be a very different role for him this year than last. Last year, we didn’t have a true PG, whereas this year we have two. So he’d be more of a floor spacer this year than facilitator like he was last year.

How much dough did we pay him last year?

I for some crazy reason loved Coleman, how could you not.. But I am glad he moved on down the road. This team is very good and he would not have been an asset IMHO.

Who knows how he would have been here but when I saw him play at TCU the other day he was clearly the best player on their team with 11/6/4. The rest of the team is nothing to shout about as far as I could see.

The CoHawk question is getting asked outside of us ....

For purely basketball reasons, CH should have stayed at UI. For purely business/personal reasons, he needed to leave. Did changing teams work out in the basketball sense? Probably not. Financially, absolutely! Even staying at UI and doing well he's not an NBA guy, too much to improve upon. In the long run, he's a very decent International player who can make a great living playing ball. I think he definitely made the correct choice.

I just don't get why in some peoples minds this is even debatable.

Kansas State is currently 7-11, have lost 9 of 10 and 6 straight, have 1 win against a high-major team, and very well may be the worst team in the B12.... you certainly got to wonder...

Two million is a pretty healthy nest egg and not the worst price to pay for enduring a losing season. Overall, I don't think this season changes his pro prospects much. He was a fringe NBA possibility prior to this season and he'll pretty much be in the same position in April. He made it pretty clear that getting paid was top priority for this year so it's hard to argue that his goals weren't met.
