AHA!

That's where the money came from!

Some will complain about this and have a variety of very good reasons to do so.

I, on the other hand, am a one-issue voter and this means less 11AM Big Ten football, so I am all for it.

obviously the big impact is the recruits you cant bring in for the game since they're also playing. However, for the atmosphere it should be awesome. Also probably good for basketball recruiting as well.

Id like some friday night games. Means I might actually be able to go.

The possible negative affect is that many of our fans come from Chicago, so will be pretty hard to get them to travel for a Friday night game.

That plus the inevitable unplanned lightening storm that will postpone the game until 1:00 am, and then they will cancel it until the next day with no tv and no tickets required. Wait, we already did that, didn't we?

On Bleacher Report it said that Michigan refused to play in any of these Friday games. I don't know if this was just for next year or all of the planned years.

Going the way of the NFL with its oversaturation. Sure playing on Fridays might be advantageous for some fans, but not for most. A lot of people who attend games plan their whole day around it. That isn't gonna happen on a Friday night. It may do well for a bit as a novelty type thing but over time it is not a good thing.

Good luck filing Memorial Stadium on a Friday night. Not many Chicagoan's are going to take a half day to drive down to Champaign.

Plus you are competing with high school games which means no parents of any players are going to attend. I highly doubt we'd be in any discussion for one of these slots for the next couple of years anyhow.

I won't mind playing away games on Friday, but would hate for them to be in Champaign.

The elites in the B1G said no thanks to Friday Night Lights. Since when is that acceptable? Cmon Delaney, be a leader.

These slots are going to be for the lower middle class. This has Illinois written all over it.

I understand the idea but man can it backfire. Sure you want to get exposure for the non elites in the conference. But do you really want to put to mid/low level teams in a primetime slot to have people watch potentially mediocre to bad football?

If the TV people will pay the answer is yes. Apparently they will pay.

What about a Friday night game at Soldier Field?

Yeah, hope this isn't opening a can of worms. One of the strengths of the B1G is that the "haves" support the other programs, unlike say, Texas. They share in the post season revenues equally and even give up some of their gate $$ to struggling programs (like us). This kind of thing might lead to exacerbating some of that division of power and cause troubles. Probably not, but sometimes these seemingly small changes can lead to big trouble.

What a burden

This is a terrible idea, I live in Atlanta and fly up for most games. If a game moves to Friday that means a day off work and a game I probably cannot get to. Can I buy my season ticket without the Friday game?

In my mind , TV is getting to pushy, but if that is the way we are heading, keeping the Networks happy then maybe we all should just watch the games on TV and then we could all save on tickets, travel costs and donations. Is that what the Conference wants?

That is a very interesting idea for our Northwestern game next year.

That would be the only way I'm okay with it. As it is right now, I'm tired of them moving these games out of Memorial stadium. I buy season tickets so I can go to Champaign to watch them play 7 or 8 games... not 6.
