Would you want rodgers shooting wide open 3’s? No. That’s where RJ is now. I watched him warm up vs Mich. St. And he missed 9 consecutive 3’s. He needs to drive the ball only

It's incredible. We have so many empty possessions due to lazy turnovers, missed bunnies, and bad shot selection....and we're in 2nd place in the Big 10 and leading at halftime in Carver Hawkeye.
I know. After every win I truly tell myself “but we could play so much better”. Just keep winning

No problem with this team shooting 25 3's a game, but some of the shot selection is bizarre. Looks selfish

Great effort in the first half. Need to clean up a few things but I like what I saw. This team would be unstoppable with some production from RJ. It’s just really hard to watch him struggle at this point.

Lol WTF Coleman, shooting it from like 10 feet beyond the arc
Yep, he does that a lot. It’s almost as if he’s saying to himself: “ya, know…I had a couple percentage wide open opportunities earlier that I passed up…And, I wish I had those back…but I dont…So, I think I’ll hoist up this 31-footer for the heck of it. I’m really all about making things way harder than they need to be.”

(He seems to go through a similiar thought process with his indecision off the dribble.)

Mayer has 15 pts, the other 4 starters combined have 15 pts.
HELP

our team defense has been lock down and “elite”.

Pretty good first half. Last minute our lack of bbiq showed and resulted in the game being closer than it should be

TSJ can’t give up an uncontested 3 there. He also has ball handling issues that are getting really frustrating. Breakaway ball handling where he mishandles the dribble and drives where he can’t hang onto the ball. Melendez….oh my.
TSJ driving and kicking to Epps was also a pretty big mistake in my opinion. Pull the ball out and get the last shot of the half.

You take away some bad shots, giving away the ball, weak fouls called, and it's out best half in conference play. 😆 I like how different players stepped up throughout that 20 minutes. Clean it up and we
win by 10+.
I would agree....except for some poor offensive sets in the last 2 minutes...best play by this team for the season overall. Just keep playing hard and with purpose and value every possession. Love Ty's play and an offensively aggressive CoHawk!

I was of the thought rj should keep shooting but the more I see I don’t think he should. They are nót even close!! He needs to drive only at this point until he fixes it in practice or against Minnesota. What’s up with TSJ losing the handle on drives lately. Coleman if your going to shoot do it in the lane or a lot closer to the 3 pt line, in rhythm please??

RJ is in his own head. He needs to play free and lose
He's a sophomore dealing with expectations. I can't say it's super surprising. The hope is that he can figure it out and be a real star no later than next season.

Stats show Illini actually hit a higher % but Iowa better from the arc. Illini dominating the boards but Hawks winning the turnovers. Says all you need to know about a close game between two completely contrasting styles of play and strengths.

So who wins....dunno...stay tunes....who flinches first?

4-4 free throws 1st half. That’s the way to win on the road. 19-11 rebound advantage. Poor game management decisions at the end of the half, but overall i like our chances. Focus!
