I’m fine with our defense. 34 at half and they have hit some ridiculous shots. Our offense has hit a wall though.
Seems like Maryland played their best, we played a C-level game so far…and still ahead. Looks like the Illini finally found the answer to Maryland doubling the ball 20-feet from the basket.
If Maryland continues to make tough shots at a high level, they might hang in there. It doesn’t look sustainable, but stranger things have happened.

Nope. He actually said a 3 to 5 in the tourney and if we lose today we’d have to win multiple games in the B10 tourney. I feel like he must have had a small seizure and gotten confused or something.
I think its going to be tough for them to dribble drive with how physical refs are calling this game on our end. Movement screens with good passing seems to be whats working. Most of what Andre does he dribble drives and the guys guarding him today are physical and refs arent calling those fouls so far today. Makes it tough for Andre. May see more Jake and Ben with lobs to Z.
Not loving our cold 3 pt shooting. 2nd half vs UCLA, Michigan, Oregon (though we did hit a good% in the fist half) and now first half vs Maryland. This is a trend.
He’s terribly unprepared
Must have been right after he was calling for more points to be added to the scoreboard for MD. Guy is the bargain basement LaPhonso Ellis at this point.
Smith's comments are difficult to listen to but there is a thread of truth to what he is saying if you're being truly honest with yourself. Our best players are not playing well at all, and some of them are not even playing. Its March!! Lazy passes, fouling the three point shooter, out rebounded on the offensive glass. Red flags for this fan.

Can’t overlook Wagler defense. He needs to get something going on offense, but he was d’ing up. 2 or 3 steals I think.
The games Andrej doesn't have it, we just get nothing in transition. If Maryland sends everyone to the glass, we need to be able to counter that with getting out and running. And we just don't have the personnel for it.
By and large, I've loved the roster construction this year. But we need some dudes, or one dude, who can push the ball and finish in transition this offseason. We don't need to be playing Alabama pace, but 4-5 easy layups a game with our rebounding should not be a crazy ask.
Even our Top 5-6 NBA pick got an easy transition one and couldn't finish over or around Coit.

Why is it that once again it feels like a guy on the other team is gonna have a career night against us because we have nobody who can stop him( Mills)?
Our team defense is not good either since we seem to avoid double teaming anyone- probably because we lack sufficient speed/quickness on the perimeter to do so.
Something's off with Boswell- doesn't seem fired up or mentally ready to play and it seems like another "famine" in the "feast or famine" production this year from Andrej.
At this level of play thus far in the first half- we have a 50% chance of getting bounced in the second round of the NCAA's.

sleepwalking our way through the 1st half EXCEPT for Mirko-Man..........we need to spring forward and rev up the effort on these goons.....poking Mirko in the eye and popping Big Z in the nose........playing down to the competition this late in the year is frustrating and very worrisome to me.......

Agreed. We can’t trust Tomi, Box,or AS at all. And luke warm on Z. Wagler, Benn and Davis, and Mirk, ok.
I'm fine with the 3 part but that's as low as we will fall. I really think we end up being the first or second 3 seed.
