MSU got away with 50+ holds worse than that against us.

Quite literally every single one of us will take being down 4 at halftime. We still can absolutely steal this one.
I will say, the refs have been pretty consistent in how they've called things in this one and it has gone both ways. That's all one can really ask for in a big game. We've given ourselves a good shot at this. Need to come out after halftime strong and keep the pressure on.

These announcers are calling out last week's refs a couple times now....they would fit right in on Illinois Loyalty
About five minutes into this I was sure we were looking at getting rolled by a 50 burger at least. At any point from 2009-2020 we would have been too.
Time to review all refs. Love coach’s comment on “Phantom fouls”. Refs are human but most hold day jobs and do this on the side living in some region of the Big10 with bias. I heard that first hand listening to refs in person.

Ok disclosure, I wanted to watch the first half, unbiased by the game thread, and see if my thoughts jive with the theme.
The spots by the refs? Omfg. Except for our last meaningless first down before half. At least they got the fumble right.
Defense is standing up after the first scUM drive. TDV needs to keep throwing. Loosen up their run D. Do we have TE's? Asking for a friend.
Still unsure of some of our offensive play calls....particularly on short yardage plays. I'm sure there's some execution issues there too.
Honestly this is playing out like I hoped. Muck it up, make them sweat on offense. All we need is a couple of scUMistakes and we can get there.
Corum not playing the 2nd half would be an advantage for us for sure.

Well, in all fairness, they're not wrong. That was some bs reffing. And to be honest, I think the B10 needs to hear on national broadcasts how bad a reffing crew is. That's the only way change can happen.
I recall being willing to offer up my firstborn to land Luke Ford out of high school. Obviously dynamics changed a bit since then but I'd still love to see him more involved.
