Game Thread: Illinois at Nebraska

Hoiberg outcoached Brad in that half and it wasn't close
The way this team is going reminds me of some of the later Weber years…
We are running an offense that puts no pressure on Nebraska at all. This is a gigantic failure of strategy. We get no easy shots at all. I am really discouraged about this staff's ability to see what is happening right in front of their noses.
That's fair, but my god, I would love to see this team with something resembling our starting lineup for more than five minutes a half.
Illini with zero assists and 6 turnovers. Unless that changes in a big way...this game is over.
Our coaching staff was asking for it going into a B1G season with only 2 true big men on our roster. We are paying dearly for that mistake now. That combined with the inexperience on our roster has been a recipe for brutality.
This has nothing to do with Tomi at this point.
Tomi or not, the regression of this team, especially defensively, over the past few weeks is worrisome.

There’s been zero help defense this whole game. People standing around watching someone else’s guy blow past them.

Wild we play two point guards just about every minute and have no assists at the half.
There were plenty of them in 2022-2023. Previous to that would have been several of the Groce years
This team lacks a stone cold scorer like TSJ, who could pick a team up by himself.

Not at all. Unfortunately, I have way less faith in this group to “flip a switch” WITHIN one game. Don’t get me wrong, we can absolutely look awesome one day and bad the next, but it seems like it’s set at tipoff if we’ll be good or awful, lol. Even the 2023 squad could wake up, get hot and stage a comeback.
Hope I’m wrong.

I'm not confident in his ability to take over a game at this point. His TOs over the past few games are mind boggling
Sooooooo the good news is we're only down 9. The bad news? Pretty much everything else. We can definitely come back and win this game, but I'm not sure we have even 3 players who have played better than mildly decent thus far, so unless somebody starts injecting beet juice in the locker room, I don't know if we can claw our way to victory. That was a brutal half of basketball.

An absolute s#^t show. We'd have trouble beating a D2 team this half. Our shooting is incredibly bad from 3 point range and many of those shots were lightly contested if at all. Half court offense so stagnant and predictable. Have KJ penetrate and dish for a 3 and never even consider any other shot unless it's Tre White going one on one with half the other team. Some more mind numbing KJ turnovers. This team isn't even a NCAA tournament team the way it is playing now and can't put that blame on just missing Ivisic.
