Might as well take targeting out of the game with that hit.
He looks pretty good, but probably has a concussionJust hoping #13 is okay.
That is the concern. Could keep him out multiple games. He looks pretty good, but probably has a concussion
Even just unnecessary roughness. But no flag!?We have had guys ejected from games for way way way way less egregious contact. There is no explanation for no targeting there. None.
Concussions can be season ending. Never know what's going to happen. He looks pretty good, but probably has a concussion
This is why I wish the bye was after this game similar to the Penn St gameThey are getting increasingly aggressive about letting those go, but only ever after a lengthy review. Worst of all worlds.
Both hits were directed right at the head there though, regardless of intent. I don't agree with the call. Players got very committed to avoiding the head over the last 5-10 years, and that will wane if you call them this way.
And to the extent the players we've seen down today are missing next week, I mean, words don't describe the level of catastrophe and utter cruelty for our chances in a much more important, season defining game.
Illinois football-tastic.
Yeah, I’m just hoping it’s not on that end of the spectrum.Concussions can be season ending. Never know what's going to happen.
The only thing they call strictly regardless of intent anymore is when the defender lowers his head into a hit.The rule: "Targeting is when a player makes forcible contact with an opponent that goes beyond a legal tackle or block, or playing the ball. This includes leading with the crown of the helmet, or making contact with the head or neck of a defenseless opponent"
Both players literally made contact with his head. First one with both hands...second with a forearm shiver.
No kidding. Gotta love how the announcers changed their tune after the non call. The rule: "Targeting is when a player makes forcible contact with an opponent that goes beyond a legal tackle or block, or playing the ball. That type of play has been targeting in every single game I've ever watched. Receiver was completely defenseless and 2 shots to the head. I guess can't suspend an Oregon player for the next game due to this happening in the 4th quarter, because that's all I'm getting out of that noncallThe rule: "Targeting is when a player makes forcible contact with an opponent that goes beyond a legal tackle or block, or playing the ball.
