Perhaps best half of basketball so far this season?
- on the road vs a Big10 title contender
- playing at a really nasty venue
- suffering through foul trouble
- a really tough top 10 opponent
- 0 points from Will, KJ and Morrez

And yet we've scored 45 points in the first 20 minutes! Jake and DGL with their best halves of the season, by far.

I expect a really tough stretch where we go totally cold in the 2nd half. Will we survive it? (Not a MUST win by any means, but a really nice resume builder come March.)

Ben has lost his guy on D for a made three 2 or three times.
That’s about his average per game.

He’ll go help and then sag off too much, get distracted, and totally forget his guy exists on this planet until the pass goes to him.

Oregon coaches sizing up the amazing Illini bench:

Oregon is really good. They will win a ton of games this year. They just look kinda bad tonight because we've defended them really well and have been super aggressive on the other end.

I hope coach has the team ready for the run Oregon will make at some time.

Weather that and we are good, I think.

Normally I agree with this take (on Ben). Tonights not the night to dog him. He's actually playing with some energy and has been good defensively other than losing his guy once.
I’ve been as harsh as anyone and kinda like what he’s been bringing so far tonight. Love that he got into the paint for a couple buckets. Needs to keep playing ball and not be a stiff.

So, if I tell you Riley, KJ, and Morez will score zero points in the first half...with Morez failing to grab any boards in 6 min. of play, would you pick the Illini to lead at the half?

So hearing from no one, it only reinforces two things.
1. Why the rosters have 13 scholarship players
2. Why they play the games.

Hard to believe...but we lead at the half!!!!

I think it was similar to the 1st half of Arkansas where the 3s are falling.

We need to play Tomislav and Morez at the same time in the second half to finish strong. We need to learn how to finish strong. Rebounds, rebounds and more rebounds.

Happy with the first half. Jake Davis and DGL were the sparks to get us going. Not to worry about KJ. He will get his in the second half and will have his moments. Like how we defended for the most part as well. Keep defending and keep being aggressive on the offensive end. Also, gotta make those open layups don't be so concerned about trying to draw the foul just make the layup and the foul will come.

He did. He also had some good challenges they nissed. DGL had a silly foul 40 feet from the hoop that gave em a 1 n 1., Morez over helped and gave up 2 layups. All in all just notuce the good and the bad for everyone. I think Bem had a solid half. Riley needs to do more a d make fewer mistakes.
