We need to make our open looks the second half to have any chance...

I know it's the NIT and in the big scheme it's not that important. However, there needs to be a new rule within the athletic department: no scheduling for the SFC in March until after Selection Sunday. I mean how long is this going to be a problem? This happened during Webers tenure when we had to go to Stony Brook. Renovations is one thing, but cmon a musical? I get that they need to make money but is the potential gain better than the Illinois brand being represented in MSG? I mean how much are they making on a traveling Broadway show ( means lots of the Broadway cast is not performing) on a Wednesday night in Champaign?

Yeah but I bet there are more people at the musical than would be at the game.

I marvel at our fans caring about the NIT every time.

Here's hoping this is our last NIT berth for a good long while.

We care because our school and team are playing. We're invested and want them to win regardless of who the opponent or tournament is. You care at least a little bit or you wouldn't be paying attention as well.

Kipper was dunking in warm ups. Nothing physical. Must be in trouble for something

I want to see Malcolm and the seniors continue their careers. Getting punked by freaking UCF is no way to go out.

Makes you wonder what someone could do between a Monday and a Wednesday to get a suspension?

Need to hope that UCF squanders their lead like Ill St. did. Need to hope that the thought of going to the Big Apple gets into their nerves and tenses them up.

And I still can't believe the stupidity on both sides on how that ISU/UCF game ended in OT!!

This is a statement game for us.

And the statement is that it is time for a culture change for Illini basketball. Looking terrible and getting embarrassed on national TV has got to stop. Hopefully next year...

We will win! :shield:

I have a feeling this might be the last Illini blowout we see for a while.

I would love to agree, but we're going to get kicked in the teeth more than a few times next year. We not only lose basically all production in every major statistical category, but also the leader, heart, soul and only truly high caliber talent we have on the roster(Hill).

We don't know what we have coming here in regards to a recruiting class, we don't even know what we have coming back(DJW?) and where will the improvement come from with the existing roster? It's a very one dimensional group.

So....To have a rosey outlook for next year is optimistic, I'm just not sure it's realistic. Now, I am optimistic that coach will put the program together long term, but for him to make this group really competitive next year.....The stars are really going to have to align.

Disagree. This is a perfect game to let him play through whatever is spooking him on the offensive end (i.e., his shooting). To me, that is why you play the NIT -- to give younger guys a chance to PLAY, rather than have their !!! yanked for every mistake they make. AJ needs to get PT, period. For the new coaching staff's benefit and AJ's as well.

Same would apply to DJW, but who knows what's going on with him.

I, for one, have seen plenty of AJ to know what we've got there. I mean, since the Thanksgiving tourney the guy has scored five points.....FIVE over the last 27 games. That's one more than Clayton Jones (no offense at all to Clayton Jones).

Let's see DJ...let's see Kipper (hope he's healthy). Let's let AJ play though it at Ubben.

Just thinking that Walker wanted a more 3 point specialist in the game like AJ to shoot over Fall..
