This may sound silly, but we actually played them pretty even the last 8-9 minutes. If Illini can make a few threes in a row, it will be a game again.

Trying to remind myself this will a second half of the season team. Some small flashes of good, a lot more bad right now.
This team is really missing some speed in the backcourt. JK is clever but just does not have the speed to take advantage of his skills and that is very evident.
And on the defensive end, it shows up with sirens blaring. Bama's quickness is really a huge advantage. DGL is the only Illini with the quickness to be defensively effective against quick guards. Boswell may be but needs to bring more intensity.
Also looks like Oates had decided to make Riley go left...which he does not seem to want to do.

We're giving them too much room on 3s, especially Nelson... even with a guy standing there, no hand up. Too much space on 3s.

Reminds me of the exhibition game in that KJ and Riley really have difficulty with physical defenders on the perimeter. White has too, but his troubles go deeper.

I watched Xavier and Wake Forest play a couple days ago and couldn't help but wonder if Dante Maddox made the wrong move going to Xavier. He is a 6th man coming off the bench on that team when he probably could've been starting on this team. What could've been for him and for us. I'd rather have him than Tre White right about now

Exactly. Anyone thinking otherwise was being a bit naive. Putting together an entirely new roster without any real experience, this was going to be the result. This is why Brad scheduled it. Have to have a baseline of where we're at. With all due respect to EIU, SIUE and Oakland....they can't be the baseline.

Well we are a bunch of freshmen and transfers with minimal Fletching.
This is exactly what Bama does. Get to the basket at will and make high percentage shots. Our puncher's chance was to make threes - we've had our looks but we're shooting like we're mad at the backboard.

Anyone acting like this wouldn't be the case early is kidding themselves. This is also the 2nd hardest game on our schedule, possibly the hardest.
