Yeah, who needs 9 reb, 4 ast & 2 stl in a first half?
Not us, right?
Terrific stats in those areas however what scares me is his decision making especially against better teams. We need Coleman no doubt but we also need him to play smart.

I don’t think anyone in the arena noticed that Bethune-Cookman just inexplicably lost 8 seconds on their shot clock on that last possession.
But the shot clock stopped after play began. I don’t think what you saw on the TV screen was official. 😁

I'd ask if this was a new defense, but after the last few games, any defense would be a new defense.

Hawk is 1-3 shooting. Yeah, both threes were bad shots, but honestly, at least he actually shot a three. He's been passing up open threes for weeks now. This is the game we want him to figure out when and where to shoot.

Edit: The Galloping Ghost beat me to the punch… 😁
Really? Against Bethune Cookman. This is the kind of stuff that gets us beat by a good team.

No reason for those quick 30 ft threes and the “whatever it was” when he got stuck in the lane.

But y’all can be a fan of the stats line I guess.

Clearly the triple double was a fun thing, but maybe not a great thing for him. But, seriously....how is it one of our best players can go through a slump, rough patch, couple of questionable performances....and some of our fans are done with him?

Not many pages so far on this thread tonight. Gee, I wonder why?
Just saying.

Might as well ask: Is our new QB in the house for an introduction?

Agreed. But chucking those 30 footers outside the flow of the offense is less than ideal.
Exactly. Absolutely need him in for all the good he does…but his mistakes are so often head scratchers…that’s what makes it frustrating.

I dont think it's people being done with him. Everyone realize's how special of a talent he can be if he plays like he is capable and up to his potential. Personally I think it is more frustration than giving up on him. Just my opinion

Coleman has been scared to shoot for weeks. BU has said in his press conferences he desperately wants Hawk to shoot open threes. He got overzealous and shot two ill-advised threes when we are up by a billion points. This is the time for him to figure out when and where to shoot. It's okay for players to work through things when we are up by so many points.

Nothing says “I haven’t seen a lick of Illinois this season” like the guy at halftime saying our New Years Resolution is to get another scorer like Mayer going other than Shannon who is apparently the only one doing anything.
Thought the exact same thing when he said it, Grantlab. Duh.

I dont think people dont want him to shoot. It's the shot quality of the shots he is taking. Take them in the offensive flow, in rhythm. I definetly think other players are making a concerted effort to pass more than once to look for a good shot. The one pass and then the two 30 footers is what is worrisome especially since we are trying to figure out things offensively with our last 3 game struggles.

If there is anyone left here...I hope you can answer my question because I am not going to read 6 pages of this thread. Is Perrine dressed and if not, when can he play? I would think that has been addressed but I do not know the answer.

I mean, yes, it's obviously the shot quality. I don't think there's any argument there.

We're not necessarily learning very much tonight, but this is the kind of game we need right now.
I mostly agree, but I think we're all learning that we can play as a team and give the effort needed to win games. We've also learned we've switched defensive schemes and that we can run selfless offensive sets. That said, I am in complete agreement that this is the type of game we need right now despite how terrible a team Bethune-Cookman is
