After spending over 2 hours this morning @ 7 am in the dentist chair for 3 emergency extractions I really really really really really need a victory this afternoon to raise my spirits and make this day finally enjoyable........I also want my beloved Illini to show the nation at the Mecca of college basketball , known as the MSG , that we are a team to FEAR.......That the non counting victory over KU really really does have a bearing on how cohesive and talented the 2023-24 FIGHTING ILLINI really really are........

Let's show the college BB community that we are a force to be reckoned with and we fully intend to make it to the 2nd weekend of the Dance and beyond that plateau......................This is a team full of talent and skills , but also the chemistry needed to put team over individual accolades............I need this ...............you need this,..........The Illini Nation needs this........................

So I will be here in front of my TV , with 4 stitches in my lower jar , spitting up blood and cheering my arse off for the O & B Fighting Illini to gain victory tonight and boost their confidence that anything is possible this year...........

Go Illini. Win tonight. Would love for Coleman to go off tonight.
I'd like that. I hope he is feeling better and doesn't force things and takes good shots. When he does that he plays well. If its close let's hit our FTs and get the W.

I hope Domask continues to be aggressive and plays well like he did vs Kansas, Marquette and Rutgers. If his threes start falling like I know they can we got this!

This is a big one.

1)Take care of the ball
2)Cover the three point line
3)Control the glass(on both sides)
4)Get back in transition
5)Finish strong at the rim
6)Shoot reasonably well from 3
7)Make free throws

Live ball turnovers are an absolute killer against these guys. We're probably not as skilled as FAU, but we are significantly bigger, stronger, more physical and probably deeper.

For all of our blood pressure's sake, let's not let it come down to this...

Tough one tonight for sure. I was one of the few on here who called the Rutgers outcome as I thought that not only did they take a step back from last year but that we also have a team that matches up well against them. In this one though, unfortunately, the matchup concerns me. FAU is an extremely good shooting team that has multiple guys who hit the 3 at around a 40% clip. They also have size and talent inside in Goldin and they love to run the court as much as we do.

Getting into a shootout with this team is a dangerous proposition and I think FAU can do that to us if we let them. I also think they have a versatility and play a team basketball that can give us trouble much like Marquette did. To win, we're going to have to slow them down, run them off the 3 pt line, and play good help defense whenever that ball goes inside to Goldin. And we're also going to need our shooters to hit their open shots. This team does foul so being aggressive and getting their starters in some foul trouble would be huge as they don't play all that deep.

Overall, I think this game isn't going to be an easy one for us and we're going to need some late game heroics to take this one home. Hopefully we can get it done. Would be a huge and highly impressive win in my opinion

That's brutal, Pru. I would express concern that you have sufficient medication and pleasant company to soothe you as you watch the game, but I'm not worried on those counts. ;) Feel better soon.

Perfectly stated. If there's a type of play that we struggle against and we're probably not well suited for....this is it.

The Marquette starting backcourt scored 39 points on 16 of 31 shooting, with many of those coming in transition after a made basket.

@altgeld88 - I know this is off topic Dan, but I have to ask: Here's hoping that house explosion was no where near where you are. It would be quite a loss to this board if it was!!

I'll take the Illini and the points. Hoping the Madison Square Garden stage will be just a little bit too big for #9 FAU.
