Game Thread: Illinois vs Gonzaga

Really, this veteran Gonzaga team just runs their own offense so smoothly and does a great job of creating shots for itself. For the time being, anyway, we are still a patchwork of freshmen, transfers, and a small number of vets. Here's hoping the team jells before it's too late this season.

Why? Because the refs have it out for us? C'mon....the refs are against us because we're losing schtick gets old.

We're undersized, our guys play hard, we get no easy baskets and have to keep up this frenetic style of play for 40 minutes to compete.....which is insanely hard to do. The other team gets acclimated to the pressure and our guys get fatigued.

Until we get more diverse offensively and defensively(aka...get multiple big guys that can play on both ends)...this is going to be what it is. Illinois is a hard to to referee. It's chaotic with lots of clutching, bumping and grabbing.

I'm glad this team got to see what an elite opponent looks like. Should be some looks in the mirror after this.

I hate to break it to you, but the refs didn't lose us this game. Gonzaga is the better team. We've got a good core, but very young. Here's hoping we run Underwoods offense as well as Gonzaga runs theirs by the end of this year.

You make good points, but did you see the last foul on DWill or how about the so called travel on Trent in the beginning of this half, he was hit in the head.

The talent level of the teams and how they run their offenses are separate from the ability of the refs. Refs can still suck either way.

Or the last foul on GB? The ref swallowed the whistle until he saw the ball didnt go in.
