Question of the day:

How many times will Kofi be fouled VS how many will actually be called?
Well, last game was in the neighborhood of 50-11, so I’m hoping the officiating crew did a tiny bit of due diligence and cleans things up by a small margin.

Houston is very good when you look at the various metrics and efficiency stats. But, do those metrics take into account opponent strength, or are they just based off of raw statistics? I'm unsure how they rank so highly in offensive efficiency when they shoot so poorly from 3-pt range and the FT line. They also aren't elite as far as turnovers/game. Maybe they just get so many extra possessions from offensive rebounding (they're 1st in Div. I in off. reb. %).

If you look at SOS, Illinois is 10th and Houston is 51st. How much different would the efficiency metrics be if both teams played the same competition over the 33-35 games/sample size?

I know Vegas is very good at this, so -4.5 HOU is probably about right, but I think too many people are giving us next to no chance to win today.

ILL!

Would like to see some RJ this game. At the very least he’ll be extra fresh from not playing Friday.
His length, energy and quickness will be needed. I expect to see him.

Fair. But there's a reason why they make you actually play the games.
Not to mention the % chance to win, when the game is 0-0, is either 50-50 or a subjective opinion. If St. Peter’s can beat UK, we can beat Houston. Not comparing the two, just saying that experts can put any percent they want, it’s a subjective forecast and the game is played by players with a ball, not by analysts in a booth looking at stats.

I'm hoping to see more bodies than just kofi going for offensive rebounds. It's infuriating seeing 4 players at the half court line after a shot.
Especially given the volume of 3s we shoot. This will be big on defense as well. Need to crash the glass on both ends.

What? I think he’s a phenomenal Wendy’s spokesperson.
Tongue in cheek, I know, but just goes to show that as with any actor, they are more likeable when someone else is telling them what to say.

For the Illini to advance from this point on, I think Kofi has to be at the top of his game, and be the best player on the court. That, along with our normal shooting percentage gives us as good a chance as most of the teams left. Either way, I love the guys on this team and this team. GO ILLINI!
