Sure personnel right now is different, but you’re crazy if you think that offensively we are different then the beginning the year. We rely on the 3 to open things up inside. 3’s aren’t falling and the lineup Brad rolled out has offensive deficiencies in favor of a stronger defense.

I’m hoping Brad is still willing to play Melendez and Goode in the second half since that seemed to spur a mini run
The problem with this take is that personnel matter. Two of our three shooters are seriously diminished by health/injury issues. With even one of them at full speed this could be a very different level of offensive efficiency. At this point the question is whether we can adapt before we lose.

We need good CoHawk on the boards 2nd half. Got to get him focused, not the same CoHawk today. Dumb foul right before half on tough 2-point jump shot by them. Can we please get all 5 on the floor in the right mental space to win this thing in the 2nd half.

Outside of his made 3, Hawkins along with Curbelo are just in lala land out there. And the offense.....what little we do, is just inept. We don't move on most sets, and today also not moving on inbounds plays.

I mean, part of the reason the 3's aren't falling is because one of our best shooters isn't available and another one can't see. Seems relevant.

Nice shot Mr. Fraizer right before the half. We are getting slaughtered on the glass on both ends of the court! The bench has saved us in the first half with some much needed scoring. This is five lackluster halves in a row in the NCAA tournament. If we play our best basketball, look out!!!! We just haven't played that since the opening round of last year's NCAA tournament. The glass half full, we are overdue to play real Fighting Illini basketball. I-L-L....I-N-I!!!!
Our 4 out sprint to defensive end whenever a shot goes up. Earlier in the year we had a few crashers and got more offensive rebounds. Those days are over for some reason.

On the other end they just want the ball more right now. A hangover from B10 play when you bodied someone to get a board they called random fouls...and we are lazy

We are fortunate to be in the game still. Let’s take advantage.

- REBOUND the ball
- Inbounds the ball without turning it over. This means run a play that does not involve throwing the ball in the corner and one that does not involve throwing a lob that they will be able to intercept
- Play the players that got us back into this game. If we start with the starting lineup, I will be pissed
- Don’t let them bait us into shooting bad shots (Curbelo and Hawkins jump shots)

I hope brad starts with what was working but I doubt he will If he doesn't I think DMW and Hawk need to hit the shots Houston wants them to take.

Throughout the season has anyone sat down with Plummer to tell him hes terrible on defense? If hes not hitting shots its like playing 4 v 5

Melendez and Goode probably were an afterthought on the scouting report. I expect Sampson to limit their 2nd half effectiveness And limit our transition pts. Houston would be very good if Tramon Mark and Marcus Sasser were healthy.
