Loyola isn't Northwestern...they won a really good conference-Missouri Valley, they have been to the Final 4 in the last yrs, and they have the best player on the floor so far...their defense is OUTSTANDING
This is why we pray 🙏😂

Do we have a single transition point? They did an excellent job of getting back on D to stop our transition.

Well.. pretty bad first half. They came out with a perfect game plan and I think we only seemed like we beat their defense maybe like 3 possessions? They are a strong group.

we need to start picking and rolling more. Floaters in the lane, bounces/lobs to Kofi or just over the screen for a 3. Problem is we are cold

I don’t want to rule out a come back, our boys can do anything they put their mind to. But coming back +9 on these guys in 20 minutes will be the toughest test of the season
We've done it before albeit against Northwestern and Indiana (+7). This is not foreign territory for us.

As bad as we played we should be down 20. The good news is we can't play that bad two halves & the glass half full we are only down by nine. I-L-L...I-N-I!!!!

Loyola doesn’t offensive rebound at all. They get back and we are it turning them over at all. This all make sense the way they tu things

Good observation. They will give up attacking the glass to stop us in transition.

Stupid mfer.....
Illini WILL take control in the second half
Question is if refs start calling fouls on the patented Purdue's style hand grab and bump d they allowed Loyola to do in 1st half

Loyola is "carbon copy" of defense Baylor threw at Illinois...

We are just sitting back and letting them run their offense - no attempt to speed them up and play our game We need to sit right on top of Krutwig regardless of where he is - he's not going to drive our bigs - why let him pick up apart holding onto the ball?

The frustrating thing is we were passive and turned the ball over. I can deal with being aggressive and turning the ball over, but Ayo's and Grandison's turnovers were due to sluggish play, turnovers resulting from indecision.

Honestly, I think we got all of the bull!!!! out of the way in the first half. We played about as ugly as possible. If the leadership and toughness on this team is what I think it is, then we are getting ready to put on a show in the second half.

Agree....Loyola has ultimate confidence in what they do and each other....they will keep chopping wood and being efficient. Not sure Illini coaches can find answers. They must if this game is to be won. Best attitude is for Illini to assume this game is lost and the program totally embarrassed....and play the next twenty minutes making every effort to play VERY FEW blunders and using every bit of energy out on the floor....both physical and mental....because Loyola is hammering them in both aspects of the game....but mostly mental.

This game is a perfect example of the more athletic team playing too fast while the efficient team shows superb patience and confidence that the turtle will win. We have seen this game a million times and few times does the rabbit find its way to victory...but that also happens occasionally. Will it be our guys this time....I would not bet a dime on that happening right now. I live in Missouri now...ya gotta show me!

Here's what Illinois has done when trailing by 7+ at halftime this year:

Missouri (-8). Lost by 3.
Indiana (-7). Won by 4 in OT.
Northwestern (-15). Won by 25.
Ohio State (-15). Lost by 6.
Michigan State (-10). Lost by 9.

I guess the good thing is every time we've been behind by this much at halftime we've outscored the opponent in the 2nd half.

We have always had “someone“ step up when needed. Might have to be the Freshman Miller today. Just a feeling.

And play in his left pocket. He always finishes left.
