Those long ones are a crap shoot but the simple randomness should mean that they aren't so one sided. Truly bizarre. But some have been effort related.

Here is a game where the lack of a true PG really hurts. They're zoning us to death, we don't interior feed well and we don't have a guy who can break the defense down off the dribble. We're constantly 40 feet from the basket when the shot clock hits 10, then it's a fire drill.

Flop called 5 seconds late by the ref farthest from the play. smh

Looked to me like ref right there “called” it right away, but usually don’t stop play — and they didn’t. I think once they realized it was second warning, they stopped play for the T shot.
