offense has looked great at times , but nebby going to a zone means we need cohawk in the middle of the zone to break it down

Here’s the halftime shooting - 23.5% from 3, 53% from 2. But, but…….analytics! How about statistics? We are a bad 3 pt shooting team. We are pretty darn good inside the arc if we are running some offense. I don’t mind the shots if they are in rhythm, but I hope by March we aren’t still jacking up 3’s by guys who’ve been trying all season to get hot. Mayer can shoot them. Everyone else better be wide open. I mean in rhythm and wide open.

Illini will need to crank up the defensive intensity.
No one could check the box score and deduce the Illini had a lead. Only big advantage for the Illini was they had a 6:1 advantage in Off boards and a surprising assist to turnover ratio of 7:4. Huskers had better shooting % from both areas....BUT took 9 fewer shots.
What we saw was poor shot selection by the Illini and an excellent effort by the Huskers on defense while hitting some tough shots on the other end. Illini game somewhat matched the weather. They will have to heat it up in the SFC in the second half or a season killing loss will be waiting. As long as it stays close Nebby will gain energy with every minute played.
What I really liked most of all was the play of TR when he was in.....getting the ball moving at both ends and playing his heart out as well. If he had a shot, he would be a one and done...but he still can score in a heartbeat with some great, athletic moves around the hoop.

The "in rhythm" part is key. The way most of these guys are shooting, just being open isn't enough.

They hit their last 6 FG attempts while we missed our last 3. Lucky to still be ahead.
