I mean we just got the ball back with 2:40 to go. Down 16 with the ball gives you a chance. Down 17 doesn't. Simple as that. Imagine we were to go down and get a TD with less than a minute to go, you'd be killing yourself you didn't give yourself a shot to be down only 8pts instead of 9.

There is very very good reason to go for 2 there. It was by far the correct call.

Generally speaking, I’m not sure getting an extra point to cut a game to 17 points is that great of a momentum boost to begin with.
