This right here. And the announcers are too dumb to get it. If they don’t want the defense to be able to do it, then stop subbing your offensive personnel.

Beamer is quoted prior to game that Bret and Illinois does everything right as a program and the way they play.

Not to pile on, but the official rule language is that “a departing player who leaves the huddle or their position within 3 seconds, after a substitute becomes a player, is deemed to have left immediately.”

So, these announcers are selecting a piece of a rule and misinterpreting it. They have 3 seconds to initiate the departure not three seconds to get off the field.

Of course I want to win the game, but ladies and gentlemen, we are leading a 9-3 SEC team in the Citrus Bowl, on New Years Eve going into the 4th quarter... Win or lose, we are more than relevant in football and Bret has done wonders with this program. My goodness, seriously, let it sink in Illini fans!!!

Shane Beamer just comes off as too much of a try hard all for show coach. A lot of fake outrage
