Game Thread: Illinois vs Southern Illinois

[BWBW]

Very nice end to the half.

[88_ILLINI]

I guess we can only run a decent 2 minute drill when we get the ball with less than 20 seconds

[FloridaMan]

Peacock thinks the halftime score is 28-10? LOL

[fuddrules]

SIU - 1 of 8 on 3rd downs.

I'll take it, regardless of opponent. You gotta start somewhere.

[BoiseBaller]

Its not the meager budget at play here we spent all the big money on our cb and safety with literally little if any money on our defensive line and linebackers thats the recipe most us fans knew before the season started was going to be a horrible defense and a step back season

Interesting. Sounds like we needed more money.

Over a 13 game season, Collin Dixon is on pace for:

119.6 catches
1,742 yards
36.4 touchdowns

Also noticeably better tacking overall

[RML]

Why is that that, on my tv, the end zone looks orange, Clemson's uniforms look orange, and our uniforms look almost red? It irks me.

[Fly Illini Fly!]

Again, that was a perfect 11-second drive. What was going on in the last two drives?

The defense deliberately gives up the easy completions in those situations. Look at how soft the DBs were in coverage.

They don’t do that on standard down & distance.

Absolutely. SIU doesn’t have a Nate Sheppard either.

Is Valentine resting….?

I agree. But the play calls were perfect given that. That’s what I’m saying. He does get completely stupid for very short stints seemingly every game.

[spotter]

I know it’s against FCS, but the defense looks much better this week. At worst a nice confidence boost for that side of the ball.

We better have improved tackling, THIS IS AN FCS TEAM!!
I think most of our defenders would struggle even if we were playing Rutgers

[fuddrules]

Is Valentine resting….?

Good Q. ??

Edit. No, he's back in.

[aaeismacgychel]

He did not have a good first half that’s for sure. Worst he’s looked including post injury last season. Not seeing the field or lanes thus far today

Hey, we could be Michigan

[TampaToo]

Left side of scoreboard out.

[Red77sng]

Can we change punters

[aaeismacgychel]

Good slant to Clement. Excellent pickup on 3rd down

[fuddrules]

Same pass, Hauser has a weakness.

has been encouraging to see better distribution between receivers (and TE!)

[TheChief4Life]

Forced. Had 86 wide open on the crossing route…

[RIP_Chief_2003]

Houser shorted another HB wheel/swing against Duke as well…

[EmeraldCityIllini]

Hes got a few wayyyy too non-chalant throws where he's just pissed away tds
