Spot on. Just ridiculous.
Clearly talking about the defense, as we were on the path to giving up a TD on a less-than-tough-drive by SIU. The offense can score points. Shouldn’t have to put up 50 to beat an FCS team.

2021 we started 1-2 beating Nebraska then losing to UTSA and getting boat raced by Virginia which feels like it was worseI desperately want to feel differently, but this is the most pessimistic I’ve felt about a season in Week Three since the Lovie years … and that’s wild considering how great I feel about our offense.

Kante has missed on several plays already. On the 4th down, he went toward the inside instead of watching the QB and tackling him.

If we improved significant on defense, week after week, at the end of the year it would still only be mediocre.
Our guys are going to have some real painful life lessons ahead this year. A lot of moral victories on the docket.

Against an fcs opponent have to trust that our interior linemen can hold and the lbs can come up and make the tackle. Have to keep that edge against a running QB.

I’m glad they ran the ball on that play! With a poor defense we need to run the ball to keep long drives so our D isn’t on the field for long periods of time.
Call me crazy, but that’s the fastest I’ve seen him run in a couple years…!
We are getting nothing out of our DL and LB groups. Just a miss by our staff on all accounts. I’m not sure we have a single B10 replacement level player in our front 7.
