A lot of good plays and defense. But not a great day by any means. Teams against teams like this, the Illini need to set a goal of solid play without blunders...not getting on ESPN highlights which is meaningless...at least to me. Too many poor passes and handling resulting in turnovers. But overall, a good solid half of team play. Love the switch to zone after the Time Out that resulted on a shot clock violation.

I may be a bit too critical of a solid half, but I hate to see these guys make blunders by trying to do too much and being loose with the rock. Against Elite Eight caliber teams, they have to understand how important each possession is and no sloppy play will help the cause. '

but there was much good displayed. Keep it up.

So happy with how our team came out dialed in and focused after such a long time off.

The one big negative for me is that it seems all but confirmed that bringing in Mihailo Petrovic just hasn't worked out. Watching him lose the ball cheaply and then loaf it down court after his mistake just about puts the cherry on top of the poop sundae made with the compilation of his minutes for our team so far this year. His body of work for us so far all but confirms that his focus and attitude just isn't what we need from any of our regular players.

It'd be incredible if he came in during the second half and played his heart out and made a fool out of me, but from what I've seen, he isn't the right fit for a program with our goals. Bummer.

The only real area of concern is the turnovers. That was the only thing Penn State did well in their game prior to this game. PSU is not good, but they are a solid ball-hawking team. We have to protect the ball better.

I think it's a combo of rust from break and Southern is def quick and pressuring the ball. Good reps for a B1G non con tune up.

Forgot about game, just started. Keaton does not seem to make dumb !!! decisions or passes. Plays smooth and in flow of game. Pretty impressive.
