Well , well , well ................................It's game day Illini Nation...........................Elite 8 game @ 5:09 pm CT..........

Who's gonna win ??.........that is the eternal question when our beloved meet up with an opponent.......whether it's a non-con or a conference game , no one really really knows who's gonna win a game until the horn sounds......of course , if it's a 30 pt lead at half time , then that usually means it's over ........But , in today's game of serious runs in the context of the game , it can change in very short time......

To get more deliberate about our game today , I am gonna keep it short and sweet........As fans of the Fighting Illini we all see their flaws and usually embellish said flaws.....it's because of our love for the Illini and our desire to get nit-picky about every small detail.......and there's nothing wrong with that , to an extent......

However , I try to NOT get nit-picky about the beloved and admire their talents and have a glass half full optimism about life , and the Illini totally......

We have a great chance to win todays game , just from the standpoint of how truly great our team is this season.........We have numerous weapons to unleash upon uconn's physical and mental vulnerabilities.........

Can they slow down TSJ ????????............very doubtful , as TSJ is playing like such a dominant Alpha Male and choosing to show the college BB world that they made a mistake leaving TSJ off the 1st team All Americans list's.........

Doc Domask will make the right decisions with the ball in his hands as he has done all season long......give him an inch and he will take a mile , or at least a swished 8-10 footer......and he will knock down a couple 3's or more tonight......

Cohawk will play with the apparent new found maturity he is displaying now (chairs skit's notwithstanding ).....count on cohawk with a couple 3's , 6-10 rebs , 4-5 assists , a couple blocked shots and 3-4 steals....

Ty will dazzle the uconnie's with some ballet around the rim and sky to the heavens for 6-10 rebs.......

Luke will knock down at least 2 three's and continue his intense rebounding and better D.......

Quincy will do damage in the first half , but we need him for the full 40 minutes........

same for Harman.......we need SOMETHING from him tonight....ANYTHING will help.......

Dain Dainja........the X factor to me.......can he defend without fouling ??.....hope so.....will he be able to put up 6-10 points and 5-8 rebounds ??..........hope so.........

DGL could be the ninja Illini , if he could repeat the two 3's experience earlier in the tourney.....

Hansberry might be needed if foul trouble rear's it 's ugly head tonight.......hope not.......

Bottom line is , the Illini are a great team......no doubt in my mind......can we win tonight ??................of course we can........
with all the above in my foggy brain I predict............................

Illini 85
uconn 81

On to the Final 4 and ready to finally make history for the beloved........one and one half hours till tipoff......and counting .......

Got new meds at the dispensary this morning........Bio Jesus has my full attention right now.....It's an omen.....it really really is ....

Divine intervention to soothe the souls of Illini Nation.....The Ancients are real and sent me some blue binary codes this morning that are very specific regarding the Illini's game tonight........Blue colored binary codes are the best kind.......I'm giddy.......I really really am............

The strength of UConn's defense: they do not let up good shots, period. Opponents shoot very low against them and they close out on threes. Lots of size and athleticism so nothing comes easy. If you get close to the basket (6'6 Stephon Castle is an NBA athlete and one of the best perimeter defenders in the country, often matched with opposing teams best players) you have 7'2 Clingan (or if he's out, 6'10 Johnson) back there to contest. With a 7'2 center back there, it's also not surprising that they rank very highly in block percentage.

They're more average in terms of generating turnovers and in terms of fouling. For as good as they are of an offensive rebounding team, they're only "good" (about the same as Illinois) in terms of defensive rebounding. Needless to say, if Illinois gets to the line, they will need to shoot a lot better there than they did on Thursday.

Since I just got back from an officiating assignment, I’ll chime in on the superstitions.

I’m wearing the same stuff I’ve worn for the first three games. Same half zip script Illinois hoodie, orange Nike coaches shirt, gray joggers, and white ankle socks.

Not messing with the juju one bit for this one.

I fanned a little tight last game. Way more relaxed for this one. Hope it transfers to the team

This UConn team is close to perfection. I consider them a top 5 team since it became the norm to not stay 4 years (last 30 years or so). Similar to Iowa State, they are very unselfish with the basketball and they are always moving it around. They also have very balanced scoring and any game it could be one of a number of players that are the one to be the hero on offense. However, unlike Iowa State that didn't have a single player that could carry an offense for a multi-game stretch, any of UConn's starters could be 18+ PPG guys on different teams, no problem. They also have 4 players that average 2.5+ assists per game and that doesn't include their 7'2 guy who is an excellent passer out of double teams.

Three point shooting? Spencer is one of the best three point shooters in the nation and they have a 6'8 guy who shoots 38.5 % as well. Transition? Stephon Castle is a one and done likely NBA top 10 pick elite athlete. Offensive rebounding? Oh god, literally their whole team can rebound, look at what they did to San Diego State there. Dribble penetration? Castle's athleticism is hard to stop. Steady point guard? Yup, they got two 5th year seniors back there. Back to the basket? Good luck with Clingan.

All you can really do is hope to go bucket for bucket. Shannon's averaging 31.2 points on .676 TS% in six postseason games, and they will need every bit of that today. Then just hope it comes down to a few missed shots on their end. This is a true juggernaut Illinois has run into. My expectations are low, but I will hope for the best.
Come on man,not quite ready to annoint them king yet,if they handle us maybe,I believe this will be a classic.ILL
