What I cannot stand as an official myself is when officials intentionally officiate a game to keep the foul count somewhat even. Illinois doesn’t foul much. Don’t penalize them by allowing VCU to assault our guys. If they are fouling, call the fouls.

Officiating can be pretty easy. See a foul, call a foul. Don’t try to manipulate foul counts.

Hate to tell you this but I have it on good authority that the evening up of fouls happens at the high school level too.

It will be interesting to see if the officiating goes back to something that resembles reality now that Texas can fill the "11 seed Cinderella" role instead of VCU.

An mid-level SEC doesn't really fill the Cinderalla role the same way a midmajor does.

Too many turnovers in the first half. That's too many second chances given to VCU. That's how VCU made it a game. Clean up the turnovers and keep asserting dominance in the paint. Control what you can control. Don't let refs take control.

For certain, there are many posters here who have no idea why AS is so important to this team. He brings something no one else can...and it is sorely needed.

As for the first half, all I can say is that it was bizarre and extreme. More than one head-scratching call be more than one official combined with some head-scratching grade school level blunders by our guys. Have not seen a stretch like that this season and it combined to erase a substantial lead. But the ship was righted by AS and half the lead recovered.

Got to play the game the entire second half focused and working hard so the head games do not come into play.

Welcome back Tomi Ivisic. Now, go find you teammate Keaton and invite him to join the game.

Defense wins games and for the most part was quite good, especially BAM and Tomi. Winning an NCAA second round game and beyond is guaranteed to always be hard...especially when you are gifting pts. and possessions to your opponent. Gotta be ready to earn this one.

But Texas is a powers school, doesn't qualify as a Cinderella. They need a mid major for that.
