Um they are talking about a Vegas line which exists for most every game regardless of talent level or anything else. What they are saying is that the oddsmakers won't set a line and risk losing money if with a key player for either team not being in or out of the game. That is just smart business as no matter how lopsided a game a key player potentially not playing will definitely affect the expected point differential.

This is silly. I'm not saying things aren't bad at Illinois. But why should a Winthrop stud not make the rotation at Illinois? Plenty of NBA starters come from mid major and low major schools.
