Glad Iowa won cuz I wanna watch Caitlin Clark in the championship, but no way should that have been called a foul.

It didn’t look like UConn was going to get a good shot off anyway, so Iowa likely wins regardless. Still though, wild call.

Problem is they didn't call it all game when both teams were doing it. Can't call it then if that is the case
If that's true, then I agree, but I cannot agree with the prevailing opinion that a foul cannot be called in that situation. As the prev poster alluded to, it's not OK if an offensive play is made in that situation only because the shooter got loose by an illegal screen.

Not the same guy
I’m not so sure. Both were in Indianapolis at Hinkle Field House within days of each other. Similar beards, although perhaps recently trimmed. Similar build, both face painters. The evidence is compelling.

I think a foul could be called but I didn't really see much on that. If it wasn't called I don't think anyone would have noticed and Iowa fans wouldn't be complaining about a missed moving screen.

Every sport has always kind of had the same unwritten rule of don't take the games out of the players hands unless it's something that gives a clear advantage.

I’ve seen Draymond Green do that exact same screen about 500 times during the Warriors title run and never be called once for a foul. Tough break for UConn but it is a foul. No guarantee they’d have scored anyway with 3.9 secs left trapped in the corner

As to your first point I'm not so sure Iowa fans wouldn't have complained. The way Gabby Marshall got bounced and threw her hands up she was pretty animated about being fouled.
As to your second point a foul by definition is a clear advantage. The refs job is to determine what is a foul and call it the way HE sees it. It is an impossible job! There will always be disagreement.
It's more upsetting when they miss a travel call or give the ball to the wrong team after an out of bounds or a goal tending call. Something that the replay clearly shows.
I really liked Paige Bueckers answer when they asked her about the call. She blamed herself for the mistakes she made throughout the game that let it come down to a refs decision. I admire her more now than I even did before.

Attacking a rim protector (who did commit at least three fouls against Illinois in the first half, but we know this NCAA tournament has basically given rim protectors free reign) is a lot of things, but "intimidated" is not one of them.

Sitting back in a five out and chucking threes like I expect Alabama to do screams "intimidated" a lot more than what Illinois did.
If "chucking 3s"...and those 3p attempts are going down, ...no one will accuse Bama of being intimidated.

Bama vs. NC St would be freakin' hilarious.
My wife and FIL are Bama alumni. Personally, I would absolutely hate watching THE football school win a natty in bball before us.

But I would absolutely love it if NC State won

Clingan plays 30 minutes max, Edey can play all 40. I hate to say it but I think Purdue wins it all.
UConn is much more than just Clingan. Purdue is mostly Edey. I think Clingan is way more athletic also, Edey hasn’t faced anything like him.

Castle can lock up Braden if they decide to do that. I just think UConn has too many pieces. I will be shocked if they don’t win it all….

So now we have the stereotype that all face painted bald guys with facial hair look alike.

Clearly they are two different people, and it is not even close. In no way would an Illini fan ever wear Iowa colors. It is sacrilege.

Anyone else having some fomo setting in with the men’s final four games happening today? Fun season, but I’ve turned into an elite blue blood fan here at Illinois now so this is just unfair that we aren’t playing.

Sad Arrested Development GIF
I’m on my disappointed because I’m firmly convinced Illinois would have made the Final Four in any other region except the one with UConn in it.

100% agree with this. To add to this, I’d like to see a rematch. No way would that ever happen again. UCONN is good, but they aren’t THAT good! Oh well. Looking forward to next season?

You ought to be in the Phoenix area with all the PU and UConn fans. I’m wearing my Illini gear to the Tailgaters sports bar to watch the games anyway…

Go get'em @chiefini!! Give them what for!
Will do @WWWWRocU. Told one Purdue guy yesterday at the Rusty Spur that we were hoping to play the Boilers again because it’s really hard to beat a team three times in a season (except for Wisconsin), and Illinois would have won that next game!
