Games Thread - The National Championship

The way UConn closes out on the perimeter and offensive rebounds is so impressive. They are showing off their athletic edge this game. Say what you will about Hurley being a whiner or whatever, he really assembled the perfect college basketball team. They can beat you every way possible.

Analysts got it right on. Clingan is making it somewhat difficult for Edey to score easily...making him shoot a bit further out...and doing it one on one. The results is UConn defenders can stay home on Purdue's perimeter arsenal. Edey has no assists. Against most teams, he kicks it out to the open guy where the double or triple defender came. Pretty smart strategy by Hurley and working so far. Not sure what Painter can do to get their perimeter game going since UConn defenders have a huge height advantage and are working hard to defend the arc.

We may see UConn develop a comfortable lead if nothing changes.
So far, nothing has changed and UConn has developed a comfortable lead.
Never seen a team make so many extremely difficult and acrobatic shots over a 7 footer as UConn has tonight over Edey. Can't beat that kind of stuff.

UConn with height advantage at all positions but center. Edey just can't do enough to offset the other 4 positions. Purdue with only 3 shots from 3 and only 1 make. In my opinion, UConn is just too tough at the guard position and shutting Purdue down.
And every player they bring in is a great offensive rebounder.

Now is when they put the PUds to sleep!

Very split between wanting the B1G trope of “no NCAA titles since…” and watching Purdue get completely outplayed at 4 out of 5 positions.

UCONN free throw defense is so good Edey air balls one

If you look at PU shooting percentage in the second half it is around ours against UCONN

Edey is getting his a$$ whooped in this half. He looks so mediocre against a good defender that can match his size.

Too many times Edey takes a dribble, tries to create space, or both, and it hurts him. Admittedly, he doesn't normally play against someone close to his size though.

Can't trade 2 for 3. If Purdue can keep getting to the line, they can claw their way back into this, but it will require getting stops on the other end.
