How to watch the Illini

#27
You Tube TV was the best deal for us. All of the sports channels (BTN, ACC, SEC, ESPN, CBS Sports, Chicago Sports (Bulls games), MLB, NBA, etc). Also we are snow birds so it works in Illinois and Florida for $65 per month. No switching back and forth when we move locations. Except it does not include the Cubs channel but not missing much this year. :)
This is my biggest complaint about Hulu+ . I split my time between two states and it makes me call in each time I want to switch—and then only allows four switches per year. The Recents section of the guide pops up first, so that’s essentially a favorites as well, but scrolling down to TNT or TBS was a pain for NBA playoff games. Plus the Sports section of the guide is thumbnails instead of an ordered list like the others. Am going to give YTTV a shot.

It sounds like I'm one of the rare few that isn't rushing to cut the cord--but here's why--
I have a TIVO. I LOVE my TIVO--like an unnatural amount of love for a box of circuits and hard drives. One of the things that keeps me attached to my TIVO is the ability to pull recordings off of it onto a computer and save them for as long as I want as long as I have hard drive space. It's akin to having boxes and boxes full of VHS tapes in the 90s, but all on a hard disk or 2. This means that I have every Illini game I've ever recorded sitting on a server, and believe it or not I do go back and watch old games from time to time. I also keep offline recordings of favorite TV shows and movies for those times when streaming isn't an option.

Tivo also has apps for the major streamers, the ability to share a single box across multiple rooms in the house, and the ability to manage it remotely so if I forgot to program the Braggin' Rights game I can do so on my phone.

I know I'm an oddball still living in 2005, but it works for me and should continue to do so for a while.

Not true. If you select the channel it will ask if you want to watch live or start from the beginning. Works on the web interface, Amazon Fire TV app, WebOS app, Android app and the Roku app.
That watch from the beginning feature on Hulu live does not work for me with sports. Hulu can't seem to figure out why. My only beef with them.

Without question the biggest issue I have with streaming is that they all run on average about 30 seconds behind cable. This nuisance is receiving reactions on text chains from people with cable before you've seen the play live.

The workaround is not looking at your phone, or for some of you masochists the game threads, until the play is over. ;)

But if you are watching with someone else you can magically predict what is going to happen. I bet he misses that free throw. etc, :)

Where in Florida are you? I live in The Villages. Agree about You Tube TV.

I have Comcast with all of the sports options. I’m past the promotional period but it’s still less than $40,000 per year… I think. But what they lack in value, they compensate for with atrocious customer service. So that’s an option.

Same here. I threatened to leave so they offered me slower internet, a free anal probe, and a technicians visit to inspect my outside cables and install a hornets nest on my back patio.

I still have Comcast. I walked funny for a week and spend my time on the front porch now.

Lol. Muttering incoherently as you sit there, no doubt.

I believe it was Sartre who said: "Hell is other people." He'd amend that to three words were he alive today.

I dealt with Comcast (corporate motto: "an Xfinity of misery") by refusing to buy its TV package. That'll show 'em.

I live in south OC and use Youtube TV. I get most via B10 network games. The weird early exhibition games I typically look for link on internet at game time and watch some fuzzy feed with college kids doing the commentary. I used to have Direct TV when I lived in MD, ABQ and SD to watch Illini football but cancelled in 2012 after games got too painful to watch.

I remember growing in C-U in the 80's when road games were often not televised. In fact until Illini got good in 1979 channel 3 did not even broadcast home games. God bless ESPN then B10 network. Now Illini fans all over the world can watch :)

The Illini will be on BTN July 24 all day. I believe at 9 Pm it is Illini vs LSU game. Did Rennie Clemons dunk on Shak?

You don't hear that often anymore. 🤔
