With all respect to my Illin brethren, our head coach is Bret MF Bielema.
Get it right. Its respect.

this honestly might be the most powerful statement ive seen. this goes back to the early days of trying to right the ship, what incredible work hes done!!!!Here's a fun fact: Bret Bielema has coached in 63 games for Illinois. The Illini have been within one score (or outright won) in the 4th quarter in 53 of those 63 games. That's how close and exciting nearly every game has been (even the losses) since his arrival.
It’s just been a different feel to the game atmosphere, the player mentality, just about everything since his arrival. I feel we are in every single game.
I'm very glad we have Bret.
Good Better BestI was excited when he was hired, I had hopes he could accomplish what he has so far. If we can keep up this level of success, recruiting will only get better and start to show up on the field. If he keeps up the 8 to 10 wins per season, he will be remembered as the best head coach ever for Illinois. I volunteer to contribute to the statue and apply the butter. He is an inspiration to all of us "plus size" old guys lol. ILL!!
he’s not pretty or fancy or flashy but damn he’s a real good football coach. U don’t give that guy a month to prep for a game and come out with a w against him very often.
I slightly disagree about Ron Zook. He seriously upgraded recruiting. In fact Brett has not recruited as well. Zook's problem was he didn't utilize the talent he secured. He still got us to the Rose Bowl in 2008, beat the crap out of Michigan in 2008 and 2009 and had winning records his last two years. After Zook left recruiting fell off noticeably. Beckman was a disaster. Mike Thomas should not have fired Zook unless he had a real good coach lined up.I advocated for him during the coaching search when it wasn’t that popular a position to take. He’s what we’ve always needed: A Big Ten guy who knows how to win. We rolled the dice with NFL guys, MAC HCs and a failed SEC coach (Zook). None of them worked out. Bring in a midwestern guy who knows the Big Ten and voila.
I would rather have an above average recruiter and great gameday coach than a good recruiter who couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag.I slightly disagree about Ron Zook. He’s a Prophetstown, IL farm boy. It comes naturally and with the territory (and I speak from experience coming from an even smaller farm town near P-Town).He's the perfect cultural fit. He looks and talks like every farmer I know in central Ill
