IHSA Boys Basketball Finals to remain in Champaign thru 2029

Everyone reminiscing on how great it was when it was just 2 classes sounds like my dad when I was growing up. When he would always reminisce on how great it was when it was just 1 class for the whole state. He'd always bring up the Cobden Appleknockers and how you couldn't get that anymore. lol You've all officially got into "get off my lawn" territory now. :p

I suppose so. I can live with it.

Some great traditional Illinois basketball schools in this list.
We (LP) easily defeated undefeated Schlarman in the super sectional. We returned in 1970 and lost again in the quarterfinals to East Moline. Long drought since then.

Looks like we may have gotten our wish in terms of them changing around how the games are scheduled: https://www.ihsa.org/documents/adv minutes/23-24/BK Advisory Committee Mtg 4-23-24.pdf

The advisory committee had a meeting last month but the minutes weren't posted until about a week and a half ago. The new schedule would look something like this:

-Session 1: 9:30 a.m. Thursday - Two Class 1A semifinals
-Session 2: 2 p.m. Thursday - Two Class 2A semifinals
-Session 3: 6 p.m. Thursday - Two Class 3A semifinals
-Session 4: 9:30 a.m. Friday - Third-place games for Class 1A, 2A and 3A
-Session 5: 6:30 p.m. Friday - Two Class 4A semifinals
-Session 6: 9:30 a.m. Saturday - Class 4A third-place game
-Session 7: 1 p.m. Saturday - Class 1A and Class 2A state title games
-Session 8: 6 p.m. Saturday - Class 3A and Class 4A state title games

This is likely the best solution they have, all things considered, as you have teams now guaranteed to have games on two days rather than having the semifinal losers turnaround and play 3rd place games the same day.

I wish on Sunday 1a vs 2a and 3a vs 4a
