Arriving in Dublin 9/12 in the am. Staying at the Hyatt Centric till the 14th. Will be in Dingle 9/14-19( rented a house… will have my wife and three other couples. Then back to Dublin 9/20-21. Yes, that would be great to meet up for a couple beers.
Teeling Distillery is a very short walk. The Fourth Corner, also a quick walk, a hole in the wall kinda place, will have Saturday (or maybe Friday ?) stand up comedy in the evening. Two Pups is across the street, it's very popular.

The St. Patrick's Cathedral Childrens Choir, I believe is Sunday at 3:15 pm, if you're still there. Tell them you're there for mass and you'll get in free.

Also, don't miss the Guinness Storehouse. Touristy but very worth it.

Had a few pints here last time I was in Dublin, mostly so I could say I was there and write a sentence like this one. ;)

Opened 1198. Pretty cool.

We are staying at the Wynn's Hotel Sept. 11-13. Only other overlap is we will be in Dingle only one night, the 17th. Staying at Greenmount House. We have another couple with us on the trip.
Used to live in Macomb many years but after retiring from my Law Practice 6 years ago moved to New Canaan, CT where our daughter and her family live. Her oldest decided to go to Illinois like her parents did and is now senior there. Though her younger brother is now a freshman at Michigan.

Ft. Myers Beach bars:
Margaritaville has opened and has a few bars. Live music daily, lots of TVs. Pricey, but nice. La De Dah is the best of the Margaritaville bars. Right on the beach.
On San Carlos Blvd there is Wahoo Willie’s, Nervous Nellies (back bay), Smokin Oyster Brewery (SOB), Snug Harbor (back bay), and Yucatán. All these bars have lots of TVs and good food options.
Two additional bars on the north end of Estero Island….take the bridge on the north end of the island across the bay and you’ll find Doc Fords and The Dixie Fish Company. They are side by side, right on the back bay. Both are owned by the same company and their food is excellent. Will have lots of game options on their TVs, and live music daily. Dixie is our absolute favorite restaurant on the island. Decent prices. Smaller menu but excellent. Great vibe. If you’re there on a Sunday, go get an order of their smoked wings. Best wings I’ve ever had in my life. But, get there by noon or they will be sold out.
Lighthouse is a dive bar that has lots of TVs. Stays open late and gets a bit stupid, but can be a decent option. A bit of a rough, drunk crowd.
On the south end of the island, someone asked about Docs Beach House. Yes, they are opened post-Ian and busy as ever. Totally a Chicago vibe, as the owner in from Chicago. Personally, not my favorite spot, but could see it as being an Illini friendly place.
Last…if you’re a cigar smoker, hit up The Cigar Hut on Ft. Myers Beach off San Carlos. Great selection of cigars and great prices. We have a place on the beach and always make a few trips to the Cigar Hut. You can sit on their deck and smoke a cigar, and they have outdoor TVs where you can catch a game. Not sure about their options for random games, but a great spot for cigar lovers. I know the owner and he actually spent a couple years in CU back in the early 90s. They’ve always got football on their TVs. (No alcohol there, but Wahoo Willie’s is right across the street and SOB, Yucatán Nellies are all just a block away.

Are there any Illini bars in Central Illinois? With the program on the upswing, it seems like it should be a thing now.

This is a little off topic, but how much does a good football program and a sold out 60k seat stadium help the local economy in and around Champaign/Urbana? Even though it is limited weekends, it definitely can't hurt. It has to be noticed big time in the restaurant and hospitality industry.

bad experience at the big ten tavern last february. couldn't find the illini basketball game on. MSU fans irritatingly
laughing about it. went to millers ale house.

Not sure where else to put this, but I'm gonna be in NYC during the Duke game. Don't know if I'll have time to watch the game, but if I do, does anyone have any recommendations for Illini friendly bars?
Definitely "Overlook"! Its the offical Bears/Illini bar out here. Awesome food and good time

Paddio's in St. Louis is where a small Illini group go every game. Not sure that's considered Central Illinois to you, but originally being from Northern Illinois and now living there it's Central to me.

I'll take any recommendations. This is my first time visiting and I'm going by myself. So any knowledge is welcome.
or just friendly bars in NYC?
All of them! Depends on what borough you are gonna be in, and what kinda vibe you want, but I've been living out here 12 years and haven't come across an unfriendly bar yet. I said in a different comment that the official Bears/Illini bar here is "Overlook". Great Sports bars that I love for food and atmosphere are: The Australian (Manhattan/ Rugby Bar), The Canuck (Manhattan/Hockey Bar), Wing Bar (Brooklyn/ All Sports). But there are great spots all over, so it depends on where you are at.

Any suggestions in Madison?
I also live in Madison and was going to ask the same thing. Between the badgers and Green Bay, they’ve pretty much squeezed all the juice in the market up here.

Edit:
Per the website, it looks like Wisconsin brewing company in Verona is where the meetups happen (though it’s only got a few games listed)

Last weekend I was in Rhodes, Greece.
Currently in Santorini, Greece.
Next weekend I’m in Paros, Greece.
Not a single Illini bar to be found as of yet on any of these islands. 🤷‍♂️
What the heck!!!
Here’s to hoping I wake up 22 hours from now to a victory thread on Loyalty. 🍻 🍷

Back to home in New Canaan, CT after 2 weeks in Ireland. Rented a car with friends and drove to several towns. First 3 nights were in Dublin at the Wynn Hotel which was a great location and very nice hotel with an excellent breakfast. Visited Trinity College in Dublin and saw the Book of Kells. Then headed out driving to various towns such as Galway, Kilkenny, Kinsale, Dingle (my favorite), Portrush and finally Belfast, where visited the Titanic exhibit. Was a great time as all the people we met and stayed with were very nice and great to us.
On our flight back we were seated next to a group of young men (mid to late 20s) who were on their way to watch the Ryder Cup. They were very nice and fun to talk with.
Overall, a great trip but it was very cold as the temperature was mostly in the high 50s for highs and windy some of the time. At least we had very little rain.
Now ready to go to Grandson's soccer games the next few weeks as his team battles to make the playoffs.

I’ve heard that Jerry’s Tavern in (NW) Portland, Oregon is where you can find “Illinois and Wisconsin” sports. Run by a couple - one is from Illinois and the other is from Wisconsin. One of these days I’ll leave the comfort of my own home
and big screen TV to watch a game there. I’ve heard their wings are outstanding.
