Took my youngest to a dog and pony show held by the Speech Language Pathology program for incoming grad students on Saturday. Been at least 32 years. WTF happened? lol Is Murphy's the lone old bar left?
My daughter did her SLP at UW Madison, but UIUC was on her list as well. I think she went with UW to avoid having any of my visits be all about memory lane. :)

Luckily my son prefers an "old" bar so we can go to Murphy's when in CU.

I grew up in C-U but didn't go to UI, and never even really partied on campus with my friends that did. I always had them meet me in downtown Champaign. Esquire, Brass Rail, Mike n Mollys (RIP), and occasionally Bling Pig were my haunts. Now when I go home to see my folks and catch a game I hit those places plus the Rose Bowl and Bunny's in Urbana. Maybe a stop at Huber's (apparently Ron Turner's old favorite) if there's time.

*special mention to Loose Cobra in Tolono, ran by possibly the coolest and nicest guy in the world, HUM's Matt Talbott.

Loose Cobra looks tight! Used to love going to Esquire back when I was on campus. Used to hit Bling Pig when I was in town for football games.
