It's interesting that the recruit that "replaced" Higgs at Mississippi, Blake Hinson, has received rave reviews so far and Coach Davis says he will contribute immediately and might just start. We were a finalist in the Hinson recruitment.

Eh, I’d rather have an undersized guy in there with some skill rather than a true big who has no idea how to play. This is all theoretical because we know nothing about Higgs, Samba, or Giorgi. Black is also not a 5 but he played it quite a bit. If Higgs is clearly more talented than Samba and Giorgi then I would hope BU plays him at the 5 and figures out how to make it work.

I can agree with most of that, except, he will not be "clearly" better than Kane imo, he and Giorgi will bring something entirely different as far as game goes also, and someone else mentioned that Hinson replaced Higgs somewhere else....Hinson is far and away better than Higgs overall imo….that said I am glad we got the kid, just don't see him as our "5" is all.

Only necessary to play defense and rebound. Would be happy with put backs and ally oop dunks if he can guard the rim.

I was told (on here) we backed off on him. I really wanted him, but he wasn't really the big we were looking for. Then again, we took Higgs who isn't really a big either. Oh well. It all really depends on how we do in this next class whether it was the right call or not.

Moving a conference game doesn't require you to give away any return games, you're able to pick the right opponents to bring some but not too many opposing fans (I bet you a million internet points it will be Ohio State this year, and Maryland at some point in the future), and with the 20 game schedule you aren't cannibalizing the slate for your Central Illinois core audience and leaving them with nothing but cupcakes until January.

And the new combo of the B1G/ACC and Gavitt Games gives you something resembling one marquee SFC non-conference game a year, so you don't need to go around finding power conference home-and-homes.

Whitman is really good at this you guys.

CAN YOU BELIEVE I GIVE THESE TAKES AWAY FOR FREE :p

The networks might be driving the timing of this year's UC game. Last year's NMSU game drew an announced crowd of 5,695. Oh well, had a great dinner at Viaggio's and free shuttle to UC. This year it is probably going to be Swift & Sons. BTW, that NMSU game (Saturday, Dec. 16th) was not bad at all. It was sort of the Trent Frazier coming out game.

It was one of my darkest experiences as an Illini fan ever (and that's me talking! ;)), but to each their own I suppose.

Losing to mid-majors in empty arenas is what I'm hoping we can turn the page from here shortly.

Alan is what we have been missing, a shooter. He might be a year or so away but hope he is a big contributor
If AG and DW can be 40% 3p shooters, coupled with AJ and TF,...we may be in upper tier in B10 3p %.

If we can find a way to outscore our opponents in 20, 21 games or more, we'll be in the tournament for sure.

I think if we scored 90 points a game, we would be in the top 10 in the B1G in scoring.

I suddenly feel like John Madden has somehow taken over this board.

RE: OSU, a lot of this depends on how we are defining "Chicago". United Center can probably get a crowd, but people aren't going out to Rosemont for that.
