I don't think the problem will ever be whether or not Giorgi can play the 4. He showed some decent technique off the block and I actually thought his dribbling was pretty darn good. His vision is also a plus, he had some highlight passes last year. My biggest concern is how clogged the lane might get with both him and Kofi down low if Giorgi can't become a threat from 3.

Kipper’s issues have been more mental last year than anything else. Playing out of position and having to go against/defend bigger guys can grind you down. Some guys have a mental toughness to take on the challenge, but Kip is a little more laid back personality.
Maybe this year will be more productive though. Seniors have to play like there’s no tomorrow.

I was feeling good about Kipper the other day, before the good article. Maybe because running on the treadmill at 6.6 mph at the time. But I liked the little commercial he did with Kofi. And with a little chemistry, Kofi makes a heckofa good lead blocker. And the out-of-position comments above really hold true. Kip at his best when being in beast mode on offense. Quick foul calls when being a roll player defending the 5 was out of his game.

You don't have to be a threat all the way out to the 3 point line, just from at or just behind the FT line. As long as you can make that 15-17 ft. jumper, you can work the high/low post game.

Counterpoint: most teams would live with us shooting that shot as the midrange 2 is proven to be the worst shot in the game.

But as GB seems to be an effective facilitator, pump faking and creating from that spot should be in his wheelhouse.

....and he's a very good passer and post to post passing can be really effective.

I loved this quote: “Before I came here, naturally, I’ve been playing the 4 all my life,” Bezhanishvili said. “All my life, I’ve been playing with another big on the court. As talented a guy as Kofi is and as great an IQ he has and we all know his physical ability to help us on the court, we have a feel for each other. I can’t think of anybody stopping us.

Many think Giorgi will have trouble at the 4. Not me.
If his 3 point shooting improves, he'll likely be fine at the 4. But why though? With no more Kane, we have 40 minutes at the 5. Kofi gets 20, Giogri gets 20. That leaves 5-6 minutes per game at the 4 for Giorgi. Putting him out there more than that seems to just be moving him away from the position where he was REALLY, REALLY GOOD last year. Remember when he set the freshman scoring record while playing the 5? I suppose it's conceivable that he'll be EVEN BETTER at the 4, but if that's the case, it'll be the best problem we've had in a while.

To be honest, Giorgi needs a 3pt shot if he wants any chance of playing NBA or pro basketball, so he should just work on it now.

The article on Kipper didn't make me angry, it just seemed like BS to me. What about that he learned the offense in the off-season or that he is going to listen to coach and trust his judgement? Of course, I hope to eat crow all season as Kipper comes out but I highly doubt it and the article seemed to do nothing besides fluff that showed his head was in the clouds not on the court. I hope I am wrong. Shall see.

Will that still be the worst shot with the three point line being moved back?

Need to agree on a designation for him, I like Bennie V, kinda plays off Giorgi B.

Typo is on campus and prepping with the team for the Italian trip. Discussed already - he cannot participate in the other drills/et, only the 10 Italian trip related stuff. There was a vid GB going against him.

Kouma, too?

Not much was really said about it, but yes he did say that he had a stress fracture.
