After taking another look, I came to the following conclusions.

NBA - Last day to declare - August 17
NBA - Date to withdraw - October 6
NCAA - Date to withdraw to retain eligibility - August 3 (or 10 days after combine, whichever is earlier)

Maybe this is right?!?
If so, the relevant date for us is Aug. 3.

I don't understand why there doesn't appear to be more coordination between the NCAA and the NBA on this stuff. When they screw this stuff up (or make it confusing), there can be serious consequences for players and families.

From this article, it sounds like Ayo's decision might hinge on whether there is a combine. Losing the tournament this year made the combine even more important as an opportunity to showcase his abilities. Kofi may also be waiting and hoping for an invite.

Seems to me that the chemistry with/without Ayo could be completely different. Kind of forgotten now but Trent was the go to guy in his freshman year (all freshman BIG). Took a while for him to blend with Ayo his soph year but essentially gave the alpha role to Ayo last year. Have to give huge credit to he and Giorgi for accepting lesser offensive roles for the team. Have to also give credit to BU for selling them on their roles. Now Adam Miller arrives. Ayo would remain the alpha if he is there. Is Trent going to step aside again? Will BU want him to step aside or take the leadership role? Or will Curbelo take it over as the PG? Or will Kofi demand the ball in tight games? Or will it take some games to work it out or will it happen in practice? I don’t have a clue and not sure coaches or players will know until it happens naturally.

NBA draft will be on October 16th. What a whacky year. Feels like an eternity away.

Trent had a tough year with his shot, but his defense was critical, I don’t think BU will forget that value. If Trent gets his stroke back, he will be a Vinnie the Microwave off the bench (although I think he is still a starter). Andres was a gift for us, and he took his when he felt it, no reason why Trent can’t do the same.

Trent is my favorite player but there IS a reason he won't be Feliz and it's about 35lbs.
Trent doesn’t have the build to take it inside and muscle it up or to body out a larger player. However he is quick enough to stay in front of his man and a much better shooter than Dre. Completely different players but both very good. DaMonte has the strength to take it inside and finish and would like to see more of that from him. Interesting to see how roles are defined in the coming season. Many things could change with a significant change in players and skills.

Ayo production was enablex by Trent taking over as pg in 2019/20. Trent dipped shooting wise but no less valued. I could see Trent sharing time with both newcomers. Our season may depend on how well Trent can "develop" these new guys. Ayo may be a star contributor, but I do believe we will look back at TF and call him an equally important leader in our turnaround. I expect we will all be weeping during his Sr day intro next year.

Trent's experience is going to be absolutely invaluable. If Curbelo takes care of the ball like Trent did last year, to go along with elite passing, he's going to be an All B1G PG.

What Trent will do for these new kids is almost as important as what the coaching staff does. Trent bleeds Orange & Blue, so I have no doubt his leadership on and off the court will go a long way in helping to shape Curbelo and Miller.

If someone remembers off the top of their head Trent's streak of zero turnovers last year, it was pretty impressive. Very much overlooked in the shadow of Ayo's iced finishes.

Love me some Trent Frazier. :chief:

1: curbello / frazier
2: Frazier / miller
3: Ayo / Damonte / miller
4: Giorgi / coleman
5: kofi / Giorgi / Hamlin

Wildcards: Hutcherson, Grandison, Verdonk

I can’t wait to see this lineup on the court. I’m enjoying just seeing it on “paper”.

Without Ayo, we have 8 players shown in lineups and 3 significant contributors at the bottom. I have a feeling that at least on of the 3 ay the bottom will be a major contributor.

Team A
Cubello Frazier Ayo Giorgi Kofi

Team B
Cubello Frazier Damonte/Miller Georgi Kofi

Team C

FIFY. Brad already had Damonte starting as the 4 over Giorgi last year, doubt that will change over the course of the offseason.

Top 5, 4-8, 7-12.
While I don't question Ayo's value to this team, I think we have enough bullets to replace most of his production. I think the only difference Ayo makes is certainty of a top flight team.

Without him, this team still is more than capable of doing great things. That being said, there's also a chance the transfers+the freshman guards all underperform to some extent. Without having known factors like Ayo, it's impossible to say where this team will finish, but the talent to be a top 4 team is there, with or without Ayo.

Kofi is a much more important piece. Without him (and assuming Ayo isn't here either), I find it hard to believe we finish higher than middle of the pack.

Given the uncertainty of virtually everything, not shocking that there is minimal coordination, especially with the NCAA involved. I am holding out hope that there are college sports in the fall or at least in the spring.

Watched some premiere league soccer yesterday. Will watch the TBT, at least the ILLINI Alumni.

Barring injury, or some ridiculous chain of events, DMFW will start every regular season game next year.

This probably fits under "ridiculous chain of events" but if Adam Miller, Curbelo, and Trent are tearing it up (where its looking like Miller's a real 1AD, Curbelo's locked down B!G Freshman of the year, and Trent's shooting 43+% from 3 at a high volume) AND Jacob Grandison and Giorgi B are dominating the 4 spot to the point where no opposing 3/4 can get any lane penetration and Kofi is showing everyone he should have been drafted because he's just crushing it on the inside... In that scenario I could see DMFW coming off the bench.

I am sure that when you typed "ridiculous", you meant "99.99% most likely". However, I could still see DMFW starting, as there would be 4 other scorers on the floor that need the ball. Usually, the 6th man is an "instant offense" type of guy, not a shut down defender. If DMFW can show enough offense, to keep teams honest, as he was doing at year's end, and everyone else is playing well, I see him starting at the 3 position, in positionless basketball. That would leave one of the 2 freshman chomping at the bit to get in at the second timeout.

Yeah it would really suck to have (playing time) issues similar to Duke, Villanova, Arizona and Michigan State. I'll take my chances, and welcome back Ayo & Kofi with open arms.
