I can see Hawk at the 3 more than the 5. Might be an interesting line up with Goode, Giorgi, Ace and Belo. Enough size with Hawk and Goode to give Giorgi help on the boards and protect the paint.
BU has said CH is a natural 3. I’m not sure I see him playing that for us now, but in the future it’s possible with the right matchup.

I guess I didn’t catch this soon enough. Now says video is private. Can anyone summarize what was shown?
I didn't watch it start to finish, but showed a chiro working on and talking with him. He says he is much better since starting treatment and I believe they said his fracture is showing healing.

BU says what he needs to say. That is recruiting.

Hawkins may be a "natural 3" but he couldn't play the 3 nowadays in college basketball. He doesn't appear to have the handles or the quickness to be a guard, and honestly, a 3 in college is a guard.

He is definitely a 4 and possibly even a 5 down the road, IMO.

Chiropractors do serious work for a lot of people. Apparently Hutch included.
I wasn't suggesting that chiropractors have no value,, merely that if it were me with a fractured spine I'd see an MD.. Whether the MD prescribes surgery or not,, he has more extensive training.. Maybe he did see a doctor who told him he could get effective relief from a chiropractor.

I'd be shocked if he wasn't regularly seeing an orthopedic surgeon as well as a chrio/physical therapist. They are not mutually exclusive.

In BU we trust
Chattanooga
Michael Porter Jr. had a back injury that led to surgery, and he seems to be doing alright.

I mean... the guy has been injured. Just a run of bad luck. And now it's midway through the season so he's got a long way to gain the staff's confidence.
I sure hope your right, just does not seem like it is going to happen. He has been cleared to play, but Hawkins is getting the minutes? Again, nothing against BBV, I just think BU sees more in Hawkins at this moment and that is telling.

I also like Hawkins, he just seems to have the ability to know where to be on the floor and what to do. I really believe he will be a very good player for Illinois.

Yea, it's tough. I think we forget that getting cleared to play doesn't mean someone is 100%. You can be cleared to play by medical staff, but doesn't mean you're at full capacity.

Also, there's the conditioning, game readiness, and trust from staff that you miss out on. Other guys had the chance to prove themselves e.g. Coleman. Let's hope BBV can play a role - whether this year or next.

Staff is being extra careful because there have been at least 2 setbacks. Seems like a prudent choice. WRT playing time: kind of difficult when you've been mostly on the shelf for ~18 months. FWLIW, I'm not throwing in the towel yet and, far more importantly, neither is staff, apparently.

I think Coleman's lack of weight is overblown at this point, particularly after what he's added since he got here. If Chris Boucher can play 25 min/night as a 5 in the NBA, then Coleman can handle the same in college. Just my opinion. If you're playing a brute like Garza or Kofi, perhaps it hurts you, or perhaps you dictate the matchup and screw up the opposing defense (like what Liddell did to Kofi).

We finally get a 4 and you wanna make him a 5, kinda hope we don't need him at the 5.

Never said I want him at the 5, I simply said he could. I'm actually with you in wanting to finally not be undersized at the 4. But, (if Kofi goes pro) I can also see times where playing Cole at the 5 and having a five out offense could pay dividends, i.e. if we're playing against a shot-blocking but lumbering big.

Want to compare him to Frank Wagner. Appear to be similar size and build and similar skills. Obviously Wagner further along in development but not in ceiling IMO.

Absolutely....things have changed in the last 50 years. Many very good othos now recommend patients see a chiropractor to get specific treatments. But, in addition, physical therapy has come a long way also.

Having seen what Hutch can provide, the hope and loyalty the staff has shown Hutch is not surprising. Who is the last player of his size and athleticism who could shoot at or near elite level for the Illini? Downey at 6' 5"?

I'd certainly prefer the Illini team not to do this, but looking ahead to Michigan is interesting. They are paused until the game against the Illini on 2/11. The Illini play twice more before then.

Michigan will have not played a game for nearly 3 weeks. I don't know when they can resume practice, but they won't have even practiced for quite awhile before then.

It is likely that teams will not have played the same number of conference games when it comes time to seed the B10, and then, NCAA tourneys. What's more, some teams are going to have played a much tougher schedule. Is it appropriate to look only at W/L percentage for seeding?

What choice is there? The B1G has to go off winning percentage. There may need to be minimum number of games to qualify, but, that is past my pay grade.

You have to go by whatever was decided before any games within conference were played. And I can guarantee that strength of schedule will not be a factor. It has never factored into awarding conference titles in the past.

They didn’t do that for football. Was there ever even an agreed upon number for basketball? Or are they gonna play it by ear when they have a better picture of the season’s outcome?

Maybe the minimum requirement of games to be considered the regular season champion should be the average of the amount of conference games each team has played?

Seeding for the tourney can go back to win %.

I’m sure no solution will truly solve it...and there are negatives to each course of action.

It’ll be interesting to see how it goes.
