If this scenario happens where we go 16-4 and mich goes 14-3 and we beat them they need to give us a share. We would have 2 more wins and head to head and they would have better win percentage. We should not be put at a disadvantage because mich chose not to play all the games like we did. We can't assume mich would win the last three just because their win percentage says they would. Make them play the last three to win it outright or give us a share. Seems like a good compromise in a pandemic.
I don't think there is any "sharing" about it - it's pretty clear we win the big ten in that scenario for whatever that is worth. We would be a half game ahead of them in the standings. That's just how win-loss records work. To your point, it's not Illinois' fault UM only played 17 games. Football had a more difficult decision because it determined who went to the B10 championship game and thus had huge national implications hence the % rule, bball doesn't have that challenge, so just straight record works

It's not worth enough (nothing is on the line, not a tourny birth or seeding) to create a new rule for who "wins" the big ten. Likely a moot point given we would have to win our next two and Michigan would have to lose another one, but I would be shocked if it worked any other way in that scenario

I was curious to see how we shot our free throws against quality opponents. I feel like we always manage to hit them for the big games.
Season average = 69%
According to Google, 70% is a good free throw %

Our free throw % for the following games:
Iowa - 82%
Duke - 75%
Baylor - 62%
Ohio State - 70%
Wisconsin Round 1- 63%
Wisconsin - 53%

So 3/6 times, we were above our average. Worth mentioning I could attribute the reduced production in the Wisconsin game to us not taking them as seriously the 2nd time around. Duke, Iowa, and Baylor are games we were very excited about so I'd especially focus on those.

I highly doubt our team, minus Ayo, took Wisconsin less seriously up in Madison.

EDIT: Looks like your percentage was wrong, but my point still stands, I suppose.

TBF Krutwig has better advanced defensive metrics, half as many fouls committed, and 3 assists to Kofi's 0.1. (I think Kofi is better, just pointing it out)
Kofi has played the likes of Tchamwa Tchatchaou, the Duke bigs, Tilmon. Trevion Williams, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Liam Robbins, Liddel, Garza, and the rest of the Big Ten schedule.

Krutwig has played.....Micah Potter?

Hot takes for $1,000,000, Alex.

FWIW, I think Krutwig is an outstanding player.
He is outstanding..he really knows how to play the game. He may not be the quickest etc, but he is a player and we would take him in a New York minute if he was interested. Add him to our assumed roster for next year, and we don't miss a beat.

Didn't know where to post this, but noteworthy at least......

NIT, after 83 years in NY, goes to Texas

The National Invitation Tournament is moving the entire 2021 event to Texas, taking the semifinals and championship game out of New York's Madison Square Garden for the first time in the 83-year history of college basketball's oldest postseason tournament. The pandemic also is reducing the tournament field from 32 to 16 teams, and all games will be played in the Dallas area.

The tournament will run from March 17-28. The NIT field will be announced after the NCAA Tournament is set on March 14. The NIT champion has been crowned in New York every year since the tournament started in 1938. Earlier rounds normally are held at the venues of home teams.

Last year's cancellation because of COVID was the first in the event's history. (AP)

rest of article is non BB related
Will the last person to leave NY please turn out the lights?

Joe Lunardi (Always seems down on Illini, but...) This is an excerpt on his contribution to an article about POY candidates:

"Honorable mention to Cameron Krutwig of Loyola Chicago. The best mid-major player in the country went to the Final Four as a freshman and is headed back to the NCAA tournament as a senior. Kofi Cockburn is rightfully praised, but he's not even the best center in his own state."
I hope this fires up Kofi even more.. Lunardi has always hated the Illini

I agree with the other three percentages, but the odds of making two free throws at 68.8% is 47.3%

Kofi is averaging 17.7 ppg, 9.9 rbg, 1.3 bpg, 66.8% from the field
Krutwig is getting 15.0 ppg, 6.5 rbg. 1.1 bpg, 58.6% from the field

Kofi is better in every metric and plays against MUCH better competition. If Krutwig was on our team, he'd be a backup. Lunardi's comment is laughable.
Can Krutwig shoot free throws?

Message boards might be the wrong place for you man.
just tired of us recruiting Krutwig ... now the Kofi vs. Krutwig matchup in Krantz's current bracket is perfect given Lundardi's not even best center in the state comment

I agree with the correction. I blame it on CV and not being able to see the eye doctor this year. (It can't be my fault after all...)

Lunardi is such a clown lol. Still has Michigan in front of Illinois too.

Yeah they still only have 2 losses. Plus I would love to have that draw with alabama as our 2 seed. Cade Cunningham as the 4 little scary but still. I think we can go to final 4 in that draw

So 4/6 times, we were above our average.

Another big game, and our free throws reflected it. 71% at Michigan. So now 5/7 over our season average free throws
