I don't know why he's not participating, but I don't think players are as scared of injuries as fans are. These guys have pick up games with friends all the time. Playing with the fear of getting injuried is also not very conductive.

Someone mentioned Ayo played for the USA team a few years ago, and I'm sure he out of anyone wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize his league aspirations.

I don't know why Curbelo isn't playing but...
1. I think it was his choice or because of some sort of constraints
2. I doubt it's because he's afraid of getting injured

You don't need to be afraid of getting injured to take reasonable precautions to minimize your injury risks. Overuse injuries are a thing.

Not to mention the fact that Curbelo has legitimate NBA potential, while guys like Grandison and Plummer will likely end up playing overseas if they choose to continue to pursue basketball. The international tournaments are a great way for JG & AP to the eyes of international league scouts on them. For those guys its an opportunity for exposure. For AC, it's simply an injury risk.
He said, or the national team directives saidthat he could not go because he was taking summer classes, the team leaves the 14 for greece and does not come back before july 5th. When he probably took that decision, jj barea, shabbaz napier and gary browne werethe 3 pgs slated to play and were going to be taken ahead ofhim, at least this year, that suddenly did not happen as jj and shabbaz pulled out last minute for different reasons and now plummer suddenly will also make the team as combo guard

I dont know if there are some other reasons as he complained earlier in the year that the team did not take young guys, and that he was 100% available, but at least the classes is the excuse or reason, pr directives have given

However unless a miracle occurs, only one team qualifies, and beating serbia, in servia with bogdan bogdanovic, jokic. Marjanovic, teodosic, blejica, micic(euroleague mvp) is nearly imposible, the ehole team is like 6”7 snd above you get on an elevator with them and dont know which one are the guards

Based on the recruits I envision ala 89 with 6’5’ to 6’7” guys at all positions. Then I look at the experience of Trent, Belo, DaMonte and Plummer and see a small backcourt. Have no idea what this team is going to look like in the future as all the smalls will be gone (assuming Belo in the draft) in 2022-23. Don’t know if it is direction BU wants to go or he will adapt to his recruits. Was surprised to see his adaptation to Kofi when I didn’t think that was his preference. Always thought advantage of college coaches over HS coaches was they could recruit to their system rather than adapt the talent in their school. Guess it will be wait and see.

I can't wait to see Coleman Hawkins next year getting plenty of minutes! I'm gonna love watching him impact the games and surprise a lot of teams! I can't wait to watch our shooters and Curbelo come at teams like the Phoenix Sun's with Chris Paul against Denver. The way they spread and attack with their big screening and rolling! Was unstoppable! The shooters knocking down shots from everywhere consistently puts a lot of pressure on the other teams!

Maybe it’s orange colored glasses, but I’m optimistic Plummer will be an upgrade over Ace.

Granted, they are just highlights, but all of the highlights I’ve seen from Plummer are 3’s taken coming off screens, off the dribble, etc, ie high degree of difficulty shots than Ace was taking. So to me it seems last year Plummer shot a higher percentage, on higher volume, while taking more difficult 3’s. He should get better looks playing alongside Belo and I’m optimistic he knocks down 40+% at volume for us.

Maybe Ace takes a leap this year and I actually hope he does and don’t wish him any ill will. I get it this was probably a business decision, and his camp thought LSU gave him a better opportunity to make the league. I actually disagree. No one will draft Ace to put the ball in his hands and have him shoot 20 shots a game. I think he had a clearer path staying here. Continuing to hone his game and becoming and elite 3 and D wing alongside Belo.

I guess that’s a bit of a tangent, but my point is I think Plummer will be an upgrade over Ace. And he should be a great stop gap while all of the 6’6+ frosh get some seasoning.

Yeah, he should be an upgrade offensively. But how's his D? Hopefully, pretty good. Doubt if it's as good as Miller's, but he gone and we kinda need to stop comparing those two. Plummer is a heckuva hole filler and I'm confident he's gonna go out with a bang. Viva, PR!

Torvik had Plummer as #27 in PAC12 and Adam Miller #73 in BIG. Plummer seems like an upgrade.

I’m very happy to have Plummer. However, I think his defense is a work in progress and Chester could be just what he needs.

As far as the comparisons to Miller, I’m not sure how valid they are when looking at a freshman vs a senior. That said, CBS recently ranked Miller as the #8 transfer in the nation. Plummer did not make the top 85. FWLIW

Again, I’m very happy we have him on the roster and he will be a big part of this years team.

I watched Plummer play 3 or 4 games against Oregon St. past two years, and I think he’ll be an upgrade offensively over what Miller gave the Illini this year. I don’t think he’ll be able to bring the same defense that AM gave the team this year. But I really don’t see Plummer as replacing Miller. I think he’ll be coming off the bench.

That would be my expectation as well. You've got Trent, AC, and DMW on board, all of which are BIG caliber guards with experience and versatility.

Does Torvik have a way to compare those numbers across conferences?

Even if he does it’s probably not a solid one for last year considering differences in scheduling and actual games played due to COVID.

But the PAC 12 flexed in the tournament. They have a similar number of projected NBA draft picks as the B1G depending on the mocks you look at, but more of their projected picks are first rounders. So probably a similarly talented league to the B1G, but with better top end talent.
