In BU we trust
Chattanooga
We have a veteran and experienced team which should pay great dividends. The projected rotation the Illini will consist of a lot of 3, 4, & 5 year guys.

Who wants to do the math for me and figure out the average age and years playing college of this roster?

20-21 Ticket question (maybe not the right spot, please delete if not allowed)

I bought the mobile pass on a flyer last year and of course never got to use it. I was thinking about it for this season, but I guess I still don't really understand it all. I get that the seats move and you're notified a day or two before the game, but does anyone know if you can transfer if you can't attend?
I've had these for 5 years now I think. You will get and email the day before usually with your digital tickets.

Year 1 and 2 said they would be void if transferred if you read small print, but you also had to have paper ticket, so printed.

Now, you can do screenshot, scan, or paper and I believe you can transfer, but they ask you not to resell.

We have never had bad tickets and all 6 of them are always together.

I got my confirmation a couple days ago that we didn't have to pay any extra, which I was surprised by honestly. I thought they would raise prices a bit.

Absent multiple injuries (God forbid), I doubt the FR as well as BBV and Lieb well get more than a few seconds a game (unless it's a blowout). If Hutch is ready to go, we likely have a 9-man rotation.

Also, the Freshman know that Trent, Damonte, Plummer, and possibly Curbelo/Hutch/Grandison will be gone after next year. So it wouldn't be logical to transfer after little playing time this upcoming season (though what's logical sometimes doesn't matter).

I think Hutcherson is still a bit a wild card. He hasn't really played in a game in 2 years. I would be a bit shocked if out the gate they throw him in a starter role with huge minutes.

I think BU starts more conservative.
Kofi
Grandison
Damonte
Trent
Curbelo

We are unusually deep, so it should be interesting to see who begins to stand out from the bench guys.

I think you take a wait and see approach on Hutcherson, and if he is actually healthy and plays like we envision, then we are an undoubted powerhouse. You add a 6'7 wing who can do it all, there are no holes.
Agreed. I see BU starting williams, the veteran who has started multiple b10 games for in favor of a player who has not played a single game for him.

Marcus Carr transfers to Texas and out of the B10.
Minny is in freefall. Ya hate to see it.

Will be multiple guys this year instead of just Ayo.
I have to say, this is usually not a good thing. You want a go to guy. I think bello is that dude by the way.

BU's got some tinkering toys this year for sure.

This team is going to absolutely lock teams down defensively. I would not be even a little surprised if we finish as the top defensive team in the nation.
I don't see the early season machinations this year that we've gone through before, gelling later in the season. This team should be lights out defensively from the first tip. The kind where the scrimmage and early season tune ups could see 90-40 type scores.

And as has been mentioned several times this year...if Kofi improves his look to pass even a little...maybe 3-5 looks per game...with the open shooters we have.. Look. Out.

Interested in this take. Why do you think we will be so much better defensively this year? Obviously we are keeping some key pieces, but AM and Ayo are big losses on the defensive end. Where do you see us improving?

Now that we know who our team is going to be and I think the rest of the Big Ten rosters are more or less set what teams from last year will have the biggest change in wins either more or less

I think Nebraska will see the biggest improvement and Iowa for the biggest decline. I would have said Minnesota but they only had 6 wins last year

Building on Combes lineup (which I agree with), projected minutes for competitive games:

Kofi: 27 Payne: 13 (unless he plays with Kofi)
Grandison: 25 Hawkins: 15
Hutch: 20-25
DMW: 20-25 (as 2, 3, or 4 … starter or bench… god love him)
Trent: 25
Plummer: 24
Curbelo: 26

most likely alternative: BBV or Melendez unseat Hawkins

also possible: Hutch is Alex Legion/Ahmad Starks and replaced by freshmen or just more minutes for the other four guards

Trent, DMFW, and Kofi will anchor...and be even better. 'Belo will be better. Chet will be coaching the guards. They are going to channel his dawg. The only "question marks" are Hutch, Plummer, Payne, and CoHawk, if you choose to call them that. They all have experience and CoHawk showed flashes last year.

Finally, with the amount of depth and lineup option BU has, they will be the freshest team on the floor almost every minute of the game. Depending of course on the matchups and subs.

Defensively at least, Payne at the 4 and Kofi at the 5 should shut down ANY teams inside game. And we know Hawkins will be a problem for most teams on offense. It will be super interesting to me to see how Underwood taylors the rotation to fit matchups.
I’m not sure we know that “Hawkins will be a problem for most teams on offense.” He has looked the part a few times in limited minutes, but he still shot 35%/23% over the course of the year. I’m certainly hopeful your assessment plays out, but by no means is it a sure thing. I will say I do believe he will be a big contributor before he leaves, just have to wait and see if this year is the year.

Great point on what Chester brings for guard intensity. I think Trent and DMW already have it. But I like to think about what a year watching Trent and DMW, while getting coached by Chester, could deliver from the freshmen a year later.

Underwood said this morning, and take it with a grain of salt, that Paynes offense is much better than he expected. And yes he threw the “elite” word out describing his athleticism. He also said Payne and Cockburn will be on the floor together more than people expect.

I have a feeling one of the freshman are going to carve out a significant role...I just can't make up my mind on who that will be. I'm thinking Goode could possibly develop a role into a pick and pop 4, but Melendez is the superior athlete that may be able to get some time at the 2 or 3. I think Podz is a year away. Thoughts on our incoming freshman class?
