I’m just being greedy but wish that Kansas State game was a lock.
I'd much rather beat Arkansas.

Don't worry Michigan will find a reason to either not play or delay the game.I really hope something gets figured out. What a waste to have games between projected top 3 conference teams with no student atmosphere. Those could literally determine the path to the regular season conference championship.
I don't think the Purdue game will be an issue. It's on Monday, 1/17 (MLK Day) and classes start on Tuesday, 1/18, so students will definitely be back. Not sure about Michigan as it's the Friday prior. Hopefully if the game is important, the students will find a way to be there - I know my two girls will!If you give them a reason, they will be. The ones with apartments for sure. The real question is if the DIA can convince university housing to let kids stay longer/come back sooner from break
Let me rephrase this - I wish we could watch the Illini beat up on Coach Weber and Mark Smith, but do understand it's not likely to happen due to seeding in the Hall of Fame Classic.I’m just being greedy but wish that Kansas State game was a lock.
The Friday prior is a bigger question, but I know university housing has worked with the DIA in the past to make sure kids could be back on campus for the games. I'd hope they'd do that for games this big, too.I don't think the Purdue game will be an issue. It's on Monday, 1/17 (MLK Day) and classes start on Tuesday, 1/18, so students will definitely be back. Whether we play/beat Kansas State or Arkansas, all I really know is that I am going to be really upset if we don't beat Mizzou by like 1000 points this year.

I'd love another Fletch interview with some data this time.Sure would be nice to hear some practice info..... anyone?
Since at least the mid-80's, besides last year when it was on the 12th and played in Columbia and 1996 when it was on the 28th, the Braggin' Rights game has always been between the 19th and the 23rd of December. The 22nd may actually be the most common date.Bragging rights on Wednesday 22d,...3 days before Christmas is not ideal.
this is the truth. it's always 3-4 days before xmas. My brother always arrives from TN for family xmas the nite of the game.Since at least the mid-80's, besides last year when it was on the 12th and played in Columbia and 1996 when it was on the 28th, the Braggin' Rights game has always been between the 19th and the 23rd of December. You're telling me, I have to drive 7 hours to get to those home games.Disappointing that Illinois has only 2 weekends B1G home games, Iowa and Northwestern. It's tough for St. Louis and Chicago fans to see one of the marque games.
At least the Chicago fans have an opportunity to see Illinois play on a Saturday in Evanston.
I like Saturday/weekend before Christmas...whatever day that is best for some, from a travel perspective.Since at least the mid-80's, besides last year when it was on the 12th and played in Columbia and 1996 when it was on the 28th, the Braggin' Rights game has always been between the 19th and the 23rd of December. When the big ten is in a down year and we have a good team - I would agree with you- with the big ten having 3 other top 10 teams this year plus a few more that will be ranked we’ll get plenty challenged during conference play- I don’t mind the easier schedule to get the new guys adjusted to their roles and everyone clicking on all cylindersIt seems that we don't have many strong non-conference opponents. Maybe Arkansas will be the only ranked team, but this match-up has already been known before. It could bring us a very good record before the tough Big Ten season begins (we have to play almost all the tough teams twice - Michigan, Purdue, Maryland, Rutgers, Michigan State, with the only exceptions of Indiana and Ohio State), but if we lose, it will strongly harm our rankings. I would prefer a non-conference schedule with a little more powerhouses.
Thankfully we have many veterans. We have to pass the culture on.When the big ten is in a down year and we have a good team - I would agree with you- with the big ten having 3 other top 10 teams this year plus a few more that will be ranked we’ll get plenty challenged during conference play- I don’t mind the easier schedule to get the new guys adjusted to their roles and everyone clicking on all cylinders
We’re lucky to have guys like Frazier and Williams around again this season. They embody everything I love about the past four years of Illini basketballThankfully we have many veterans. We have to pass the culture on.
Looking for Frazier to have a great year....it's his time. We’re lucky to have guys like Frazier and Williams around again this season. They embody everything I love about the past four years of Illini basketball
