I mean… a reporter asked him the question. He’s not bringing us up unprompted
He could have stopped after he said the quote was blown out of proportion and he was cool with the players. He instead proceeded to complain about the fans and talk say we're not a powerhouse historically. He's obviously got some feelings on the topic.

Well from what I see on social media (and I don’t go looking for it, so sure there is a lot more and a lot worse than I see), some Illini fans can be pretty annoying or worse. Not sure if Illinois fans are worse than other fans, but I’m sure they can hold their own. I actually think it is a bit refreshing that he calls it as he sees it rather than taking the PC, don’t rock the boat or give them bulletin board material approach.

All teams have some annoying fans. All teams have some despicable fans. Michigan especially is no exception. I don't mind Dickinson's comments at all. I actually love them! He's the perfect heel for this team, and if this happens to provide any extra motivation, all the better.

Edit: I'm also glad our players have avoided trashing other teams' fan base. I like for our guys to be above that.

Well I’m not sure if calling them annoying elevates itself to “trashing,” but I get your point. I’m not sure what prompted the comment — was it in answering a question or an unsolicited comment — but I actually prefer a player doing that then engaging with the annoying fans online. That is a recipe for disaster for a player. Well at least we know the Michigan games won’t lack for excitement.

Would you take Trent at 20 ppg, Hutch 5, Goode 4, Melendez 4, podz 4

Or Trent 14 and D. Hutch 8, Goode/Melendez/Podz 7 each?

I think your second option adds up to more points.

Regardless, it's incredibly unlikely that Goode, Melendez, and Podz each average 4 ppg. In fact, I'd be surprised if any one of the three averages 4 ppg (unless, God forbid, we have multiple injuries to the guys ahead of them). It's going to be very difficult for the FR to get minutes outside of maybe some non-conference blowouts.

I'm confused? Are you really asking me if I would take 37 ppg over 43ppg??

My response was predicting Trent being the biggest surprise by taking over the role Ayo played. Go to clutch elite scorer.

Maybe it wouldn't qualify as a "surprise"? I just watch that scUM game when Ayo was out...and I see that as a brief glimpse at this year. Trent is an Alpha that can average 20ppg.

And if I had a gun to my head to pick who gets to "Ayo" the end of close games this year.....Trent is my pick.

When you look at Trent as a freshman he's actually underperformed on the offensive end since.

I too look for him to really pick it up.

He hasn't "underperformed" really....he's just accepted a reduced role because of the cast around him. The scUM game last year is the example of what he can do when called upon to be the guy. I don't think he's lost anything offensively. And his commitment to defense gives him an even better perspective of his options on offense.

If anything from watching that game and some clips from practices he seems to have added moves to his skill set. The last couple years he was mostly used as a spot up shooter but he is definitely capable of getting to the rim and I think he is going to have a lot more opportunities to show it in game this year.

He hasn't underperformed at all. As a FR, we had very little firepower, so we needed him to score. Since then the talent around him has gotten much better. And he, being a smart team player, has learned to defer more.

Glad he is getting his due......he deserves it and I am looking forward to it! This team is going to do some damage this year.

Trent’s junior year he really struggled most of the season. It wasn’t for a lack of opportunities either, he shot 32.7% on nearly 9 shots per game.

Senior Year Part 1 for Trent was a great bounce back season. Having Curbelo running the point likely took a lot of stress off Trent. In ‘19-‘20 Trent was both lead guard AND bulldog on defense. Exhausting for any player, let alone someone as tenacious as Trent.

I bet that loss to Loyola weighed heavily in Trent’s (and Da’Monte’s) decision to come back. I wouldn’t want to go out like that either.

I don't see this happening at all. Its crazy to even put that on him because he doesn't need to be Ayo he just needs to be Trent which is a great defensive guard with solid offensive skills.

Ok. So you didn't watch the scUM game last year. That's cool. It was good. And Trent went off.

Anyway, it's just a response to the "who do you think is gonna be a surprise". So....clearly you agree that it would be a surprise since you "don't see this happening at all".

So we are in complete agreement! The internet rules!

I saw the game Trent scored 22pts on 18 attempts so I wouldn't say he went off and he has always had a few games with big scoring outbursts every year.

I dont see him turning into Ayo because Trent's numbers don't move much regardless of his usage . Ayo had a usage above 29 last season and with Belo, Kofi, and the other additions no way Trent slides into that role this year . Trents numbers simply don't move much even with the higher usage from his first and second seasons and so no matter how much he has the ball it only amounts to a 3 pt difference in points produced . For him to be Ayo he would have to get 20 attempts per game to get that sorta production and the only way that happens on the current team is if a lot of other thing go wrong and that would be the surprise.

The biggest surprise for me would be Omar playing significant minutes at the four and averaging double figures in scoring. Nothing in his previous experience would indicate that. To be clear I am not predicting that, just would be surprised if it happened.

Annoying as he is, and he will regret those words when Kofi and the Krush (great band name btw) get a chance to respond, he is responding himself, albeit poorly. I'm sure our players would have a few opinions to share about them if asked.

Has he never played at Maryland?
