It was 60:40 bears fans easily one of the games I went to. It was routinely commented on when I watched the broadcast the next day, and it was mentioned by players in post game interviews. Cowboys fans there were confused and kinda angry at their fan base.

But the general sentiment was about if your fans travel well, you can flip buildings even in neutral/away games. Us at NW, us at bragging rights at times, us at the UC etc.

Interesting. Maybe perception vs. reality? I mean....to say that there were almost 50,000 Bears (only 30,000 Cowboys) fans in ATT stadium...when the Bears would have to be at 90/10 in their own stadium to replicate that seems crazy to me.

I'm not doubting you at all that their were tons of Bears fans there...it's just that the Bears have been pretty terrible since ATT opened with the only year they were @Dallas with a playoff team was 2010.
The Cowboys have been pretty terrible too so if that was the year...it wouldn't be surprising to see 20-30,000 Bears fans there making it sound/look like 60/40?

Rothstein in for practice right now. Has said some very good things. Said Curbelo could be a top 10 player in the country, and also said that Omar and Goode are quite underrated.
Goode looks pretty solid physically from the practice video's. He looked like one of those players that drives other teams crazy with an all around good game and a tough as nails attitude.

The little video I have seen of Luke as an Illini it seems like he has made every shot barely drawing iron....

in the Rob M. video he seems like great guy and his teammates and coaches really respect him and his abilities.....hope he gets some pt this year, as he brings a lot to the team.....jmho

Woke up today thinking that Illinois had two of the Top 15 players in the country in Kofi Cockburn and Andre Curbelo. It may have two of the Top 10 --- Curbelo is that good. Going to explode like a volcano.

The Big Ten will always be an extremely competitive league, but three teams currently stand out at the top: Purdue, Michigan, and Illinois.
Rothstein knows how to get his likes up

Brad Underwood tells me that Utah transfer Alfonso Plummer is the best shooter that he's ever coached. Will play a big role for the Illini. Deep range.

now, who was giving chiefgritty (or whatever he's called now) static for saying brad underwood deals in hyperbole? i like coach, but he says at least a couple things like this every year.

BUs hyperbole comments have almost become a kiss of death for players. I get hyping little known or new players, but it seems like everytime we hear something amazing about a reserve player they end up falling flat.

Or maybe I just remember the ones that haven't reached their potential here more than the ones that have.

I guess he never commented on Kofi or Ayo. LOL

I assume masks are required to enter. Does anyone know about proof of vaccine? Or proof of a negative test?

Curbelo, Grandison, and Giorgi come to mind, also he mentioned how good of a shooter Da'Monte was before he turned it on last year. He's certainly missed the mark on few, Vesel and BBV (so far) come to mind, he also may have said some things about Mark Alstork's shooting ability. But I still think he's batting at least .500.

Meh, I think if you take them with a grain of salt they're actually insightful, especially with the guys we haven't seen play yet. He typically says a guy is elite in a particular area, and it's usually a fair assessment. Off the top of my head, he's said things like:

Kofi is an elite physical speciman
AC is an elite passer
Hutch is an elite athlete
DaMonte is an elite defender
Feliz is a warrior
Ayo is elite in transition
etc..

I think all those statements are subjectively true, and reflect well on the player. You can probably dig and find a lot of statements where it didn't necessarily translate into overall play, but I don't really think it's his intent to imply that. YMMV

Any word on if we will have a midnight madness/ something similar?

I think people exaggerate how many players he hyped up that didn't pan out. As noted by someone else, you really should take these comments with a grain of salt, but they do give you insight on what to expect. Him specifying certain attributes as opposed to using blanket statements should definitely give you an indication of skill.

Saying Alfonso Plummer is one of the best shooters you ever coached says a lot
Sayin Ayo is the most improved player from the summer is saying a lot
Saying Da'Monte Williams is a great shooter before he got there is saying a lot

I'm not sure what you mean? More Bears fans....or louder because they were winning? While Chicago teams travel very well in Dallas...(see Stars v. Blackhawks, Rangers/Sox).....if you're talking about fans in the stands, this is a complete exaggeration. I'm almost certain there has never been a Cowboys home game where the visiting team was more represented than the Cowboys.
Never been to a Cowboy home game but home fans can ABSOLUTELY be overwhelmed. ( not saying Cowboy fans Dub) I was at the Bears vs AZ Cardinals game that induced the Dennis Green postgame meltdown. Crowd was approximately 70/30 Bear fans. First half as AZ pulled ahead the crowd was meh..... After Urlacher, Hester, and company pulled ahead in the second half, it was like an explosion of sound like I've never heard in a stadium.

Any guesses who Da Bears head coach was? (Wish he would have translated to college ball)

To your point (in season #1 at Illinois)............

As I recall, BU called Michael Finke an "elite" passer -- perhaps the best passing big man he had ever seen.

Didn’t he rave about Mark Smith too preseason?
