Indiana to win the BigTen? Interesting.
So I guess everyone is assuming 4th time is the charm for a roster who’s stars have played together now for 3 seasons to date and have never even finished above .500 in the conference? But now they put it together to win it all?
Sorry, not buying it.
I'm a BIT biased, but the Indiana hype is pure wishful thinking. The sports media prostrates itself before the "Blue Bloods" of every sport, and the old guard remembers a time when Indiana was anything special at all ... they can't let it go, and they're pathetically over-eager to get it back whenever there is a flicker of hope. There is absolutely no reason going forward that IU should be better than Illinois, Michigan, OSU or any other program with a decent history and plentiful resources.
Spoiler alert ... did you guys watch how the best 3-9 team of all time "took the next step" this football season?? Lol, I think there is a VERY decent chance that Indiana basketball is about to pull a Nebraska football SO hard. And I would love that. Everyone talks about their run toward the end of the year to beat Michigan (who, until a short burst in the Tournament, simply was not that great of a team last year) and then beat Illinois by one point in one of our worst games. Suspiciously fewer people are focusing on IU getting 30-pieced by a mid-major in the First Round.
This is an excellent comparison, if you ask me!
2009-10 Illini

2010-11 Illini

Postseason: Limp into the Tournament as a 9-seed, losing in the Second Round
2021-22 Indiana

Postseason: NCAAs, #12 seed ... win their play-in game and lose to Saint Mary's 82-53
2022-23 Indiana
