Not out of the question that this year's BIG champs might have 7 conference losses or more.
If you look at Torvik, only Purdue is expected to finish above 12-8, and they are pegged at 15-5. So, your theory is not that far out there.

We are favored in our next 9 games, and in 5 of last 11. Playing to current expectations puts us at 12-8. To beat Mizzou and win the next 7 games, though expected, is a big ask, but if we can do that and surprise a team or two in the last half of the conference season, we could easily be a top 4 team and maybe compete for the championship. Starting 0-2 and winning the B1G might have never been done, but we have a favorable schedule, and a 20-game season reduces the importance of starting 0-2.

This team needs to find its identity, but an excellent season is still quite possible.

Or, does he take the Dan Dainja path and wait until next year to play?
I would assume that he might take minutes away from Lieb in Garbage time but don't expect much more than that. However, most of our freshman have exceeded expectations so... Who would have predicted the impact that Harris has?

That's what I thought the plan was, and it would preserve 4 full years of eligibility. I was kind of surprised by today's news and Sturdy's tweet that he's hoping Perrin is good for 5-8 minutes per game. But if Perrin and staff feel he's ready, this Internet user has no complaints.

Have you watched Purdue much? They've earned that #1 ranking IMO. Don't see much chance of them dropping 7 or more.
Normally, I'd say 2 games isn't a lot to make up, but I don't see a lot of chances to make up ground, plus we only meet once.

Just to play devils advocate.....

-Their huge bump in ratings have largely been because of one early season tournament, where their opponents probably weren't as prepared as B1G teams will be. These coaches/teams know Edey well and will have better game plans to stop him.

-After Edey, they are lead by 2 freshmen. Once again, conference games are different. If these freshmen have weaknesses, the B1G will expose them.

-Take out the good tournament results....They beat a pretty good Marquette team, FSU and Davidson both hung with them pretty much all game, and they should've lost to Nebraska. Maybe they just had a hot tournament?

I agree, they have earned the #1 ranking at the moment. But they still have question marks and the margins are small. With how tough the conference is, it's easy to find 7+ losses on anybody's schedule.

I think the book is out on Purdue in that you double Edey and make them make open 3's. They are shooting something like 31% from 3s on the season now so that makes them vulnerable. They still rely a lot on freshman so that isn't going to be consistent. Are they good, yes. Better than expected, definitely. Edey npoy thus far.. Sure. ... They will still have more than 4 losses in the big ten this year!

Anyone think that 5-8 minutes per game is actually a realistic possibility from Perrin, this year?

I do see a role for him.

From what I can gather, he is more mature than a typical freshman.

How many minutes, dunno.

Perrin is a tough read for me. Saw plenty of him in the European tournament, was leading scorer for a French team that I thought was the most talented. He is a gamer, I don't see him being concerned about the brigher lights. He has a nice looking 3 stroke, just didn't see a bunch go in. Skilled big man, style somewhere between Dainja and Hawkins. Not the full post player/banger Dainja is, but not the Point Forward that Hawkins is... but a little of them both.

Some internet gurus said Perrin is a development player for Illinois, I don't agree. But until I see him against top level college players I can't say for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a very good college player now or in the future. I don't see him being a bust. Possible role might be a big man to close out a game in which you need a better free throw shooter. Possibly another big if Dainja or Hawkins gets into foul trouble.

This “the sky is falling” attitude on this forum is astounding. Stop worrying about big ten title and worry about March!!!
Because many here habitually overrate our talent and convince themselves we’re going to beat up on most teams. And then when we lose a game to a non-top 10 opponent or don’t win by 30 points against weak competition, they’re incredulous.

Similar thoughts. From what little highlights I've watched, his ceiling looked quite good. Versatile player, good skillset -reminded me of some bigs that played for Bo when he was at Wiscy --guys that could make reads, pass, and move well.

I caught part of the Davidson game. PU looked very beatable.

Well , he is lefthanded so that balances the batting order and we can go righty 5 -lefty 5- then come back righty...........His defense will dictate how much he plays.........

oh wait................................................
