I guess this is the case of they were who we thought they were.No over or underachieving .
So how does this work-- More money paid to support staffs ($27M) than coaches ($25M)? Must be only head coach salaries in the $25M?

Get a winning football program and we will double football ticket sales. In the 80's Illini routinely sold out 70,000 stadium. It ridiculous our football ticket revenue was 25% of Wisconsin. Keep in mind this was the 5-7 season.

There was a Post-Dispatch article that appears to have been taken down. The headline in my Google feed said something about Illini cheating. Fran Frishilla disavowed, and blamed the reporter for how it was reported. Did anyone read it before it got taken down? Did anyone catch what Fran said?

I have been reading the stl today paper for the last 15-20 years online and didn't see anything like that as i sure would of read it and probably posted it here .......If it was there then I missed it but i usually read anything Illini....
I used to talk back and forth through emails with a reporter named Stu D. who covered the illini for a good while and i would of emailed him for more info , but I;m drawing a blank on this subject......
If you know how long ago this was , then I can go to the archives and see..............

If you read the comments the majority of posts lay the blame at the feet of an ambitious journalist................But I stand by my opinion of franny.......He had some stuff come up when he was the chief analyst on recruiting , i think for espn , but I;m not fully sure of that ......cloudy memories , but something sticks in my head aboot franny being a chatterbox ........

I’d say it’s a case of they were who Kenpom thought they were. I remember quite the uproar on here about how under ranked team was in the preseason poll.
Fran has plenty of skeletons in his closet, he should probably think before throwing stones.
That hit my Google feed earlier and was taken down before I read it as well.

Disappointing that RJ didn't bust out, Hawkins wasn't consistent, the Mayer experiment had very mixed results, Goode's injury, Skyy's fizzle, Perrin's short stay, and UP and Down and losing in the first round.
Some good things - Sencire. Ty's rebounding. Shannon was mostly very good. Some big wins early in the year. Epps better than expected.
Finger-crossed - We get at least everybody except maybe Shannon and Hawkins back.......but would love to see both of them here one more time.
I may be the only one, but I now cringe whenever I hear we are taking a bunch of transfers, and when I see the latest transfer we have interest in. I want to see RJ playing like he did down the stretch today. I want to get to know and like next years team because most were here this year.

Well season's over can finally say it. Dain, Epps, Mayer, TSJ, Hawk, Lieb, made it known before game to coaches and teammates they are planning on leaving. A bad showing for NBA teams might change that but I highly doubt it.
Harris and Melendez - will know after player meetings. Goode, Rodgers, Moretti back for sure. Excited for the off-season.
Sad group of guys this year...never believed in themselves or the system. Surprisingly not bad character guys either which makes it weird.
