respect my decision™
Transfer PG, TSJ, RJ, Luke, Hawkins… Rodgers, Harris, Transfer C/Dain round out the rotation.

If that PG is a stud who can make a three, this team is really good.

(Not wishing anyone away, just basing on insider comments).

Hansberry, man. Not saying he's gonna start, but he'll be in the rotation. And he'll be good.

Based on what evidence? Why do you think college sports are toast?
I don’t think college sports or pro sports leagues are “toast” , but I do think fairly big changes are coming and not necessarily positive for more than even half the D1 football schools
Right, not toast, but I think you'll see continued waning of attendance and TV ratings at the margin.

I'm curious if any insiders have info: was Bryce Hopkins ever a realistic option to transfer to the beloved last year? I'm guessing no, pipe dream. But damn, he'd have been a nice addition.

But isn’t it cyclical then? If the casual/non-alum fans check out, the money dries up. If the money dries up, the free agency problem dries up with it.
The money's just going to taper, it's not going to dry up.

What college sports should do to combat this is to find a way to connect NIL money to tenure at a school or otherwise disincentivize player movement. That's very difficult for a hundred different reasons but that should be the goal.

Putting humpty dumpty back together again in terms of conferences and rivalries would also be very helpful, but I barely even know how to propose a solution there, it's just so far down the road at this point. The right answer was the CFA 40 years ago but it never came together.

How good is theBig Ten going to be next year?
PU could return most of their team including Edey
IU should lose a lot TJD and JHS
NW I am not sure about their eligibility
Iowa should lose Murray
MSU gets Fears not sure how good he will be
MD loses Young but Scott can come back
PSU loses a lot
Wisky, Neb, and Minny could return their whole team
scUM a lot could leave or stay
O$U probably loses their star Freshman
RU loses McConnell but could return the rest

Hard to predict transfers but if we what the insiders have said we should be in the top quarter of the conference. However way too early to make too many predictions because we don’t know who is leaving or transferring
After what we thought would transpire for us this year before the season started vs. what actually did transpire....I don't even want to consider the future. I'm going to try my best to wait and see. Lol

agree. I think it needs to evolve to multi-year NIL deals that void if not served. So if your deal is three years at 1.5M and you can be a lottery pick after one year… go for it, but you repay the $500K (or some contractual penalty).

Or even easier, bring back the sit out year for transfers for anyone who takes NIL $.

I’m sure there are 100 reasons this doesn’t work - but would love to see incentive for staying out.

Was thinking about this earlier this year. Is it as simple as treating NIL the way you do eligibility (i.e. you can't do an NIL agreement for a year following a second transfer)?

I don’t expect him to leave…but crazy things happen during the carousel and if he can get a smaller head job I’d think he’d take it
Chester did not seem happy at times on the bench this year. Maybe just me but he seemed to be visibly frustrated and looked as if he was bottling up some things. Love coach Frazier, hope him and Brad can make it work.

It's a thought. But like anything else in this space I would imagine that's a lawsuit the NCAA would lose if they tried to enforce it.

A collectively bargained deal with a player's union would do both sides a lot of good in all this.

So next year we will rely on a couple of transfer starters to be successful. Cool cool, never seen that go wrong before!
Eh, not an untrue statement, but if Shannon and Hawkins are back those are probably two of the first team preseason All-Big Ten and the undisputed leaders as returners, that's a dramatically different scenario from this season.

We lost all five guys who played at least 20 minutes per game between '22 and '23.

Harris needs to develop a jumper. I don’t expect it to happen overnight but in 2 years I think he will be a well rounded player

Next year if he gains more strength he will be a defender we needed this year.

It was pretty clearly the most frustrating and toughest coaching challenge of BU's (and the whole staff) tenure.
When you don't have true leadership on the floor, you can't really replace that with the coaches.
When you saw them try, we had upper classmen brushing them off, and freshmen....well, just trying not to freshman too hard.....while sometimes freshman'ing too hard.

The coaching staff had to think that TSJ and MM would bring more leadership and "team" buy in than they did. I'm not saying they are the only place for blame, just that it was a reasonable expectation for two "super" seniors to come in and establish some solid team and floor leadership.

That just didn't happen.

C Fraz is my guy …

I’ll just keep it 💯 … There’s some disconnect with this staff right now … There’s gonna be some changes …

Chester and TA from everything I’ve been told are locked in … Other positions (yes multiple) I have not heard one way or the other … Just that there’s gonna be some adjustments …

no reason not to work - incentivize for longevity. just has to be accepted by player as a better long term deal - earn more if you stay - a win-win - than a short-term deal where if you leave you earn less. base compensation on a deferred basis or bonuses tied to months of service, eg, get extra $X1 if stay N1 months, X2 for N2. N can be longer than 12, so can still receive dollars from during first year played but stay for a 2nd year and more when you stay for a 3rd year. sort of like stacking practice days and weeks. basically deferred comp earned in year 1 that is paid in a series of payments after vesting N1, N2 months, same for year 2 etc
