So how does Underwood rectify it? Gently nudge one of his assistants into a low-major head gig? What assistants fit the Gentry description since there's no chance he's coming back here.
Marty Simmons baby. Marty Simmons.

I dunno if there is a ton of history there…but there is some. The dude is one helluva underrated X’s and O’s guy IMO. He’s coming off a rough rebuild season. But he was able to make Fran look dumb this year with a whole lotta nuttin’

No doubt Gentry was a boon for BU's bench, but what I don't understand is exactly how progressive CBB is.

I mean, can't the offensive lessons from Gentry's tenure here be studied, learned, and employed by BU's staff post-Gentry?
Sure, of course you try to do that.

But two of the best coaches in CBB have been fighting back and forth over Gentry for the better part of a decade for a reason.

let’s say we have the following coming back next year…

Hawkins
Shannon
RJ
Ty
Goode
Harris
DGL
Hansberry
Moretti

For the sake of discussion: How do we turn ourselves into a big 12 or Arkansas type team with lengthy, athletic players. Think about how many RJ types they could throw at us yesterday.

If Gentry is so great, then why are the Zags having a down year (for them)? Asking for a friend.

If getting a 3 seed, sharing a conference title, winning a conference tournament, and advancing to the round of 32 (at the very least) is a down year, sign me the hell up for that for the Illini.
I don't think anyone wants to realign to a middling conference.

I've never EVER understood why there are so many Michigan fans here. I've mentioned this before on here, but my wife and I have a fun (and incredibly nerdy) mini-hobby of keeping a note on my phone of all of the college sports apparel we see anywhere in the Chicago area and having a running tally. People always talk about how there are supposedly so many Notre Dame fans in Chicago and Northwestern claims they're some local draw and Iowa fans think they have some big connection to the city, but it's Michigan that has been in second place the entire damn time (August 2019 to present):

Illinois - 149
Michigan - 79
Iowa - 71
Wisconsin - 57
Notre Dame - 53
Indiana - 52
Michigan State - 46
Northwestern - 37
Purdue - 30
Ohio State - 21
Illinois State - 12
...
Loyola Chicago - 10
DePaul - 9
...
Northern Illinois - 5

I know that is hardly scientific, but we do have some rules! A group of fans can count for a max of three, only one count for visiting a bar specifically meant to show one of those teams' games, can't count anyone we know, etc. Point is, there indeed are so many Michigan fans in Chicago, and I absolutely cannot stand it. I also cannot stand Juwan or Hunter Dickinson or their arrogant fan base.

I still have some pretty damn high hopes for this team, but I AT LEAST need us to keep Juwan and Hunter winless vs. the Illini to mark our regular season a success!
I live in northeastern Pennsylvania and I see very little of anything other than PSU. Which is understandable because i am in Pennsylvania. But I see a ton on PSU hats, shirts, stickers and license plate frames on cars.

When I go back out to the old country, it’s not the same. Of course, PSU has a ton of outhouse campuses and they all count as PSU. Illinois has no equivalent. But still, except in the C-U area, I don’t see anything.

This might work in Qatar, but basic accounting states you provide a service you are paid that year.
many/most Execs get paid with options that vest close to how I described (but slightly longer vesting periods). Many sectors such as insurance agents get bonuses paid on persistency. pensions plans, esp defined benefit plans, are just a much longer term basis of this, and also have vesting
so if you stay, you get more. those that leave early get less
btw, accounting says company incurs a cost for accrued benefit (based on assumptions such as vesting and plan provisions). the employee is not paid nor reports as income while deferred

I’ve always wondered, did Gentry choose to leave on his own, or was he sort of a casualty of the other two assistants (who both also left)?
