Purdue and MSU definitely the favorites.

I have to wonder about Howard. I would think his seat would be incredibly hot. Googled his contract buyout -- $5 mil in 21-22 and dropping a mil a year. Less if fired for cause. Recruiting is no where near what it was earlier, and of course, the Hunter defection was damning. Predicted finish of 11th doesn't show much confidence either.

Exhibition against Ottawa - I’m guessing that’s the one in Kansas vs our neighbors to the north?

Hopefully he will stay as we have his number :)

Anyone know how Ty shot FTs in high school? I can't get my head around having a starting PG that shot FTs under 50% last year, and would be in late-game situations. Was that a fluke?

My choice to lead the team this year.
I am looking forward to seeing what Ty can do. Have no doubt about the effort he will make, and the example he will set.
I think Ty may have a lot of variance in his game performances this year depending upon matchups. To those debating the starting lineups, I think Domask may play a lot while Ty on the floor to give you an additional person to handle the ball (as opposed to Goode), at least on the occasion when he faces a strong, quick defender. Ty may not be a great PG out of the gate, but the trio of Ty, TSJ and Domask should be formidable based upon what is being said about Domask.
Can't wait to see some basketball.

Sooooo ready for hoops season! I am going to try to be a much more grateful fan this season ... we'll see how long it lasts, haha. However, this football season has made me appreciate how relatively spoiled Illini basketball fans have been over the years. Since Underwood dug himself out of the hole Groce made for him (i.e., starting in the 2019-20 season), the season we all billed as a catastrophic failure that caused Brad's seat to get warmer and all of us to go into freakout mode was spending some time in the top 25, finishing in the middle of the conference standings and losing the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Meanwhile, if this year's football team were able to slip into the rankings even once and then scratch and claw our way to 7-5 or so, it'd be a clear success, IMO.

I'm thankful for the relatively low floor basketball has (usually) built for itself historically! And now we are likely to enter the season in the preseason top 25 for the fourth straight season. Let's do this!

I think/hope this season is going to be very different than last (in a good way!).

Last year, I think we all had mixed feelings going in. Then, we got hot early and everyone got excited. Some inner turmoil happened and things kind of fell apart for a while. Nobody could shoot, and the guys that could, were launching it off one foot while falling out of bounds with 21 seconds left on the shot clock for some odd reason. Did well enough to make the tournament as a middle seed and lost in the 1st round.

This year, seems most folks think we'll be terrible. And, I think that will only get worse as we have some tough games early on and the team will still be beginning to gel. Which, hopefully, instead of the turmoil we'll actually see that gelling take place instead and guys will shoot with confidence and with adequate shot selection. Ty (or someone) will step up and into the PG role and flourish, and then we finish the season strong, get a little better seed this time, no under-seeded team staring at us from the other side of our region bracket, and we can make a deep run.

Can I get an I-L-L?
