I'll actually be surprised if TSJ wins player of the week, or frankly receives any accolades for Player of the year nationally or in the B10. Unfair and unjust or not, as long as these awards are left up to subjective voting, this just feels like the 'cost' of him playing this year. I hope the voters separate out their personal feelings from the play on the court and give him his just due. But it doesn't take many protest votes to leave him of these awards.

Hey, already glad I'm wrong. Congrats, TSJ!!

If I told you at the beginning of the year we'd finish 24-7, or 23-8 regular season, would you take it?
Realistically, that is what we are looking at with a possibility of a loss, or two, somewhere along the way
I'll throw in a caveat ... if we stood at 19-6 with a non-zero chance of finishing 25-6 with a #3 seed and a Big Ten championship AND you told me we dealt with the mid-season TSJ drama ... I'd be over the moon!

The BTT title game is never a factor in seeding. Nor are the BTT semi-final games.
It's almost as if it is useless to play it. I know, I've enjoyed attending a few myself, but have never really understood the point in holding it so late. Does little for the conference other than wear our top teams down on selection Sunday. JMO.

From Robert’s latest article, between 2006 and 2020, there were 275 AP polls. Illinois was ranked in the top half of the poll (12 or better) 6 weeks or 2% of the time.

Since 2020, there have been 50 AP polls. Illinois has been ranked 12 or better 20 weeks or 40% of the time.

Thank you daddy Brad for resurrecting this program.

other P5 conferences tournaments conclude on Saturday. I am not buying that the 1 extra day is that impactful.
I realize that but I don't think it's just a coincidence there's been such a long drought for a big10 team to win the championship. Even just finishing the conference tourney one day sooner would mean a little fresher legs. Every little bit helps imo.

Steve Bardon make a interesting observation the other day, that the Big Ten Conference really does not have a "bottom" this year.
For example we have been beaten by teams who are currently in 9th and 12th place. Michigan State just taken down by the team in 13th place
People often ask how can Maryland have no many losses, how can Iowa have so many loses, as another poster suggested "every game is a rock fight."

9th? Rutgers??

We’ve lost to

1st — Purdue
4th — Northwestern
5th — Michigan State
12th — Maryland

But your point stands. Every game is indeed a rock fight.
